REMOTE HUB Applications for ICANN 55 Now Open

Dear All, Please see the note below on the opening of the application process for Remote Hubs at ICANN 55. ** Applications for Remote Hubs at ICANN55 has gone live. Interested ENTITIES, not individuals, can go to the ICANN Remote Hubs<https://meetings.icann.org/en/remote-participation#remote-hubs> section of the Remote Participation webpage, where the Terms, Directions and Application link can all be found. The application form will close on February 29, in time for decisions to be made on entities that will ultimately host and Tech team preparation. The sessions tentatively set as available for Remote Hubs are: 1. Monday: IANA Stewardship Transition Implementation: 1345-1500 2. Monday Public Forum 1: 1700-1830 3. Thursday Internet Governance: 0900-1015 4. Thursday Public Forum 2: 1330-1530 As a reminder, ICANN Meeting Remote Hubs is a remote participation resource open to all, but prioritizes engagement around groups of interested participants from developing nations who might not otherwise have the ICANN Meeting experience. The goal is to simulate the physical room experience, promoting lively and topical discussion between the remote participants as would happen in a face to face environment...and see positive outcomes related to more engagement and participation both regionally and within the ICANN communities. At its face-to-face meeting in Sao Paulo in June 2015, the NMI/CC decided to change its name to "Inaugural Coordination Council", its current members remaining in place till June 2016. NMI is now calling for nominations or self-nominations for a 2-year period starting in June 2016. Current members may self-nominate or be nominated. This is to ask if EURALO would accept to support my continued volunteer service in the NMI/CC, for a new 2-year term. As you may be aware, I have played an active part in NMI/CC since its inception, whether on the Council list or in its Working Groups (Terms of Reference, Governance and Operations, Project Support and Engagement). As the Chair of the At-Large Working Group on Transition, you know that I have always made myself available to ALAC, the At-Large community and EURALO, regularly reporting on the ICG's work. Dear All, On behalf of Judith Hellerstein, If you would like to have a teleconference captioned during this pilot phase please submit your request to At-Large Staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org> by January 15th. As agreed to by the At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, the implementation of this project will be structured as follows: * Three calls to include captioning each month for a total of 9 teleconferences, not exceeding 60 minutes per call (with the exception of the ALAC Monthly Meeting) * The calls shall be held between January - April 2016. * During the first pilot phase of this captioning project the language used will be English. * In order to select the calls the captioning team has developed a set of criteria to evaluate and rate the requests. The request for captioning must meet at least one of these criteria to be put on the list. Criteria for Captioning: 1) Are there persons with disabilities or with limited bandwidth participating? 2) Are there webinars of general interest to the ICANN community that would increase the engagement of non-native English speakers? 3) Are the meetings or discussions about accessible tools or software? * The At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, in collaboration with At-Large Staff, will select the calls that will have captioning based on the criteria noted above. * A short poll will be made at the end of each call where captioning is used to ask for feedback on the captioning program during that call. This award program, launched in June 2014 in London, seeks to recognize long-standing community members who have served in leadership roles in multiple ICANN working groups or committees, and demonstrated collaboration with different Supporting Organizationsand/or Advisory Committees. The Multistakeholder Ethos Award will recognize ICANN participants who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions, acknowledging the importance of ICANN's multistakeholder model of Internet governance, and contributed in a substantive way to the higher interests of ICANN's organization and its community. The nomination period for community nominees opens today, 10 December 2015 and closes on12 March 2016. Community members interested in submitting a nomination are invited to send an email toethosaward2016(a)icann.org<mailto:ethosaward2016@icann.org?subject=Multistakeholder%20Ethos%20Award%20Nomination> including: ********* Name of nominee. ********* Community of nominee. ********* Reasons for nomination.
