Explanation/Background: In the Affirmation of Commitments (AoC), ICANN commits to maintain and improve robust mechanisms for public input, accountability and transparency so as to ensure that the outcomes of its decision-making will reflect the public interest and be accountable to all stakeholders. The AoC Accountability and Transparency Review Team (ATRT) is in the process of analyzing stakeholder and community input that has been submitted on these topics prior to the AoC (i.e. comments on Improving Institutional Confidence, submissions to the NTIA NOI on expiration of the JPA, etc.). However, the ATRT would also like to understand if there are new inputs or changes in stakeholder views since the establishment of the AoC. The Process Going Forward: At the end of this Public Comment period, the ATRT will review the comments submitted and prepare a summary analysis of the various submissions. EURALO Brussels planning and next call

Dear all, Olivier, Matthias and I met last Tuesday at the IGF consultation in Geneva and used the opportunity for some discussions. In recent time, there were some questions and frustrations raised regarding the next ICANN meeting and our planed EURALO Show case there. Some of our members/ALSes have not understood so far, that there will be *no* EURALO General Assembly (according to our by-laws) there because there will be no funding to invite and bring our ALSes to Brussels. People were asking me “Why EURALO is organising a Show case in Brussels without involvement and participation of its members?” A question or even a contradiction I can perfectly understand when we are planning such a Show case about us without a solid representation of our member orgs. (because most of them cannot afford to join us on their own expenses there!). This is an important issue we have to discuss at *our next monthly call next week and an important point that should be raised by our representative (Adam) *at the next call of the ALAC Finance and Budget Committee. I don’t know how we can solve this dilemma at the moment but, as repeatedly said before, one RALO face-to-face meeting per year is crucial for motivation – involvement – participation of our members. I understand that mere remote participation over longer periods is not enough – and I share the frustrations expressed (mostly informally to me) by several members. I would like to ask Matthias to add this important point on the agenda for our next call. EURODIG follow-up

This is just to let you know that EURODIG took place in Madrid on Thursday and Friday last week. It was a real success, and the draft messages from Madrid are all linked from the front page on: http://www.eurodig.org I brought the following (heavy) material to the conference and left it on the brochures table: - around ~20 at large brochures in English - around ~20 at large brochures in Spanish - around ~20 at large brochures in French - around ~30 EURALO brochures in English - 15 ICANN annual reviews 2009 Thanks to Heidi & ICANN staff for having gotten all of this material to me in time! At the end of the first day, none of the ICANN annual reviews were there, so I guess they were all taken. About half of the brochures remained. At the end of the second day, I saw around 25 brochures altogether - I guess the rest was somehow picked up... I left them there since I left early, and I gathered that the many people still lingering around might still be interested in picking up brochures. On Sunday, I'll be going to Geneva, in time for the IGF sessions. I'll take the remainder of the ICANN annual reviews there. (all 15 of them). I gather that ICANN staff (or other EURALO folks) might wish to take a few at large brochures along. I think that they are popular.
