EURALO-RIPE MoU Draft - please comment

Dear EURALO members, as you know, Wolf and I have been in discussions with RIPE NCC, Europe's Regional Internet Registry (RIR), to follow the example of other regions and build some better links between them and EURALO, including the possible signing of a Memorandum of Association for further collaboration. After a few meetings, RIPE has now come back to us with the attached proposed MoU. Please be so kind to comment on the contents of the MoU. I have passed this text by the EURALO Board and have received no objection to present it as is to the EURALO membership. I have presented this text during the last EURALO call and the following suggestion was made to add the following text: "The RIPE NCC and EURALO recognize the benefits of mutual collaboration and support between the Parties on Internet-related issues, including but not limited to mutual cooperation to sustain the global stability of the Internet" This text makes sense and received consensus support on the EURALO call. Should there be no objection, I shall ask RIPE whether they would be agreeable to add this text to the MoU. The format and contents of the MoU are based on the MoUs of other RALO. We wish Michael every success in his post-ICANN career. Of course, Alexandra is not a newcomer. She has been supporting our work in Eastern Europe for a long time, working with Michael. So it's great to see her being the person to take over this very important position which spans a large region with extensive political, cultural and geographical significance. EURALO Outreach Strategic Plan - please comment

Dear colleagues, please be so kind to find this year's EURALO Outreach Strategic Plan, developed in coordination with the EURALO Board as well as EURALO's ALS Engagement Task Force. Because I have launched this process too late, we are really late with the plan and it should be filed with ICANN by the end of the week, which gives us only 24H to finalise this plan. That was the date when a new key appeared in the DNS for the first time since 2010. The new key is part of the ongoing effort leading up to a changing or "rolling" of the key signing key (KSK) - scheduled to occur on 11 October 2017. A global outreach effort is currently underway to ensure that network operators around the globe are ready for the change in October. The first year kept everyone busy with capacity-building and training workshops, Arabic Script Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), engagement with law enforcement agencies and Computer Emergency Response Teams, academic engagement, Middle East Network Operators Group (MENOG) roadshows in partnership with the MENOG secretariat, and activities under the DNS Entrepreneurship Center (DNS-EC). We've been exploring ways to improve the calls. We've seen low turnout on the live calls, but a strong interest in the recordings and report posted on our website. As a trial, we're removing the live call, and will instead present highlights in a short prerecorded Adobe Connect call. We'll continue to post the detailed quarterly report. This new format starts 7 September, when we'll post the FY17 Q4 update. As always, we'll announce when the recording and report are available. On 18 May 2017, the ICANN Board approved [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001ljkduyi4CaNreyl3gJMgkuIBVt8h4fC4CYD6aE_FlbOU…] an amendment to Section 4.2 to transfer responsibility for reconsideration requests to a new ICANN Board committee. The GNSO Council asked the GNSO Standing Selection Committee to develop the criteria and process for selecting the permanent GNSO representative. The GNSO Council adopted the proposed criteria and process during its meeting on 28 June 2017. The process stipulates that the GNSO Council leadership team will select one of its members (chair, vice chairs) to serve as the representative. At-Large aims to submit this plan to the ICANN Board Organization Effectiveness Committee in late August, prior to ICANN Board action on the ITEMS recommendations. With significant input from across the community, including the ALAC, Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs), and At-Large Structures, the ALAC Statement on the At-Large Review Draft Report [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001ljkduyi4CaNreyl3gJMgkuIBVt8h4fC4CYD6aE_FlbOU…] has laid the groundwork for analyzing the ITEMS recommendations. The community will focus on refining the content, giving input, proposing implementation steps for each recommendation, and creating a list of priorities. Dear All, Please see below a note from Alan Greenberg, ALAC Chair, regarding available travel slots for ICANN 60. ** The ALAC has three travel slots available for the ICANN 60 meeting in Abu Dhabi, 28 October - 02 November 2017. The travel slots will be allocated to At-Large participants who are ACTIVELY involved in some ICANN policy activity, or those with a strong history of such involvement in the past and an interest to restart. Those include gNSO or ccNSO PDPs, CCWGs, ALAC support Working Groups and the At-Large Review (with a lesser emphasis on the latter) If you are interested in being considered for one of these travel slots, please write to staff(a)atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org> and provide the following information: 1. Full name, Citizenship, Country of residence 2. Your affiliation or connection with At-Large (ALS, Individual Member, RALO) 3. What ICANN Policy Activities (as above) you are involved with. Please be specific and detail what your involvement is (teleconferences, mailing list activity, etc.) 4. Certification that support to attend this meeting is not otherwise available. We have a very short time in which to finalize our traveler list, so replies are due no later than 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 02 August 2017.
