Call for Volunteers for the UA Day 2025 Proposal Selection Panel

Dear All, The ALAC has been asked to nominate up to three volunteers to join the panel being organized to review UA Day 2025 proposals. In addition to the ALAC nominees, the panel will consist of the UA Steering Group (UASG) and ccNSO UAC nominees. To ensure equal representation in the cross-community group, there may be fewer than 3 ALAC nominee on the committee. Volunteer Responsibilities: * Review previous shortlisting criteria and finalize it before 11 November. * Review and evaluate around 133 proposals in 3-4 weeks based on predefined criteria. (This number is based on the UA Day 2024) * Participate in virtual meetings to discuss and finalize the shortlisting process (3-4 meetings in total). * Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the ethical guidelines of the review process. Time Commitment: The shortlisting work is expected to take 4 weeks and aimed to be completed by 11 November. We plan to have mostly weekly meetings. Please ensure that you have the availability to commit to this timeframe before volunteering. Conflict of Interest: To maintain the integrity of the shortlisting process, individuals who have submitted proposals or associated with the organizations submitting UA Day proposals are kindly requested not to participate in this volunteer opportunity due to potential conflicts of interest. Dear All, On behalf of Jonathan Zuck, ALAC Chair, this is a call for interested persons to apply for the positions of NextGen Mentor and NextGen Selection Committee member. The NextGen@ICANN Program seeks nominations to fill three (3) slots for the 2025 Mentor Program. These appointments will serve for the ICANN82-84 meetings. The NextGen@ICANN Program is seeking nominations to fill three (3) slots for Selection Committee members. Each SO/AC is asked to nominate candidates for these positions. Individual self-nominations will not be considered. Please note that the ALAC will be able to fill one slot for each of the positions. NextGen@ICANN Program Mentoring The NextGen@ICANN Program Mentoring process helps participants to prepare for the NextGen@ICANN experience and strengthens the relationship between NextGen and the ICANN community. ICANN provides travel funding (including hotel accommodation and a stipend) for up to three SO/AC-appointed mentors to attend an ICANN Public Meeting<https://meetings.icann.org/en/> as a NextGen@ICANN Program mentor. Mentors support up to four NextGen@ICANN participants per meeting. Mentors will assist newcomers to become actively involved in the ICANN community and its policy development processes, working groups, and regional work. Mentors are expected to devote considerable time to pre-meeting preparation with their mentees, to offer advice and networking support and regular check-ins on-site, and to complete evaluations following the meeting. Based on previous estimates, mentors spend about 40 hours during the six-week period in advance of the meeting and about 10 hours on-site at the ICANN meeting. NextGen@ICANN Selection Committee The NextGen@ICANN Selection Committee is responsible for assessing all applications for the NextGen@ICANN Program<https://www.icann.org/public-responsibility-support/nextgen> received through the online application system. Selection Committee members will then determine which applicants have best met the posted Applicant Selection Criteria. Each Selection Committee member will serve a two-year term, as detailed in Terms of Service. However, if several community groups nominate representatives, the term may be shortened, and group representatives may serve on a rotating basis. A time commitment of approximately 20 hours over three weeks is required (for each application round). Interested At-Large Members are requested to send their Expression of Interest (EOI) to At-Large Staff no later than Friday, 4 October by 23:59 UTC.
