Councilors - As mentioned previously, we have CANCELED the informal session scheduled for this evening, due to a light agenda on Wednesday an Conflicts with Steve Crocker’s farewell reception. However, as mentioned during our dinner, Heather and I would still like to gather folks for an informal get together. But tonight probably won’t work, due to the same conflicts. Colleagues – With deference & respect to my RrSG colleague, I’m reluctant to table this topic during our meeting in Abu Dhabi. On previous occasions, I’ve referred to it as a “black hole” or “cat nip” or “agenda killer”, as it nearly always results in un-constructive discussions, eats up meeting time, and ultimately shows up again and again on future agendas. However, given that there’ve been some significant developments in the wild (.AMSTERDAM and letter from ICANN GDD), and the fact that earlier this year we committed to revisiting the topic in Abu Dhabi, we can go forward and include it on the agenda for 1 NOV. BUT, I would ask that Michele and others first establish some ground rules that: • Limit the scope of discussion to prevent us from trying to solve everything GDPR during the Council meeting, and • Identifying what outcome or tangible action item we want to achieve as a result of our discussion. With this in mind, I would ask Michele to help address these two points prior to our meeting in Abu Dhabi. And if other Councilors have thoughts on how to limit this topic, please reply with those as well. Note about Venue Entrance Closures

NOTICE: The ADNEC venue has informed the ICANN Meetings team that Entrance A and B will be closed from 16:00-21:00 today, Tuesday 31 October, due to another event in Halls 1 and 2. This directly impacts hotel guests staying at the Aloft Abu Dhabi, Hotel Centro Capital Centre by Rotana, and the Premier Inn Abu Dhabi Capital Centre. Guests of these hotels will need to use the route through the concourse, walking or taking provided transportation from Hall 4 to Aloft. ADNEC personnel will be on hand to direct ICANN60 participants to their hotels. For participants requiring assistance, ADNEC personnel will transport participants from Hall 4 to the Aloft. This service is also available for participants needing to return from Aloft to Hall 4. All entrances to the venue will return to normal on Wednesday 1 November. Today: Information Gala Night

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is pleased to host the gala for ICANN60 at Emirates Palace. The gala will have traditional activities such as falcon, traditional show, and calligraphy. TRANSPORTATION: Shuttles will depart from Grand Stand Entrance at the Abu Dhabi National Convention Centre starting at 19:00. Last bus leaves at 19:45. Shuttles will be available to return to the venue every 20-min starting at 20:30. The last return shuttle will be at 22:00. DRESS CODE: In respect of the local culture, please abide by our dress code inside the Palace, which is smart casual clothing style or the traditional Arab national dress. Please kindly refrain from wearing shorts, Bermudas, flip flops, open shoes or any other exposing garment.
