Dear Ayden and all, We apologize if there were difficulties with accessing the feedback tool – there ought not to be any, so please do try it again if you wish to provide feedback. Please be assured that ICANN organization is committed to and interested in gathering the community’s feedback on each of the features that we will be rolling out with the objective of improving the findability, transparency, and accessibility of ICANN public content. The deadlines are, unfortunately, what they are in order to ensure that we are able to deliver on this major project on budget and on time. There will certainly be multiple and additional opportunities and forums for continuing community feedback, as noted in David’s blog that is referenced in the announcement below. Thank you. This new website implies a shift towards greater consultation and community participation in ICANN's content strategy, but we cannot actually wield any influence by commenting here. (And not just because if you press the 'provide feedback' button, you see "The feedback survey is temporarily unavailable.") From what I understand we are not even being asked to comment on anything important. The list of 250 definitions, which I would like to review for neutrality and accuracy, are not online and it sounds like they have already been approved internally and are not open to community review. Are we really being asked to comment on just the glossary tool itself, and did ICANN really produce a video mockup and slide deck of something so incredibly mundane when it is up for public comment for just a week? Please forgive the negative sentiment to my message here, but it really seems a poor allocation of resources to me. Dear Councilors, To assist with your review of the Final Report, including the Minority Statements, and for further Council discussion on the recommendations from the PDP Working Group on IGO-INGO Curative Rights (Agenda Item 7), Council leadership has requested that staff provide you with the following information: (1) the list of questions that several Councilors raised during the call, for further consideration and to facilitate your development of additional questions (if any); and (2) copies of three letters that were sent during the past month to the ICANN Board relating to the PDP and its outcomes. Nominations to the ICANN Fellowship Selection Committee and Guidance on Outreach Goals

hi all, I am sending this note as ICANN org published an update on the fellowship program https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2018-08-13-en, which is asking SO/AC to: 1. Provide input for two-year outreach and promotion goals 2. Nominate ICANN Fellowship Program Selection Committee Members for two-year terms For the first item, the council can have a small team of volunteers to work on giving guidance regarding the goals. I am happy to volunteer to lead such an effort and looking forward to hearing of others want to join in order to fill the form (attached). We can use this opportunity to set goals for bringing specific needed expertise and skills as a diversity goal for example for those to participate in PDP WGs. For the second item, as SO the GNSO should appoint a member to the selection committee and we expressed previously the interest to be involved in such a structure. Usually, we task the SSAC to conduct such process but in this case, we got a time constraint here since the deadline is the 10th September. Best, Rafik

As noted, As noted Point H of the CPIF directs “ICANN staff [to] continually review the implementation framework and related materials to encapsulate additional best-practices or to adjust the steps as a result of lessons learned with previous Consensus Policy projects,”. A cross-functional group of representatives from ICANN’s GDD and GNSO Policy Development Support teams have reviewed the Framework, and are proposing a number of amendments to it for the consideration of the GNSO Council (see attached). As noted, these changes are intended to further clarify and detail some of the steps of the CPIF – these are not changes to any existing processes, procedures or the original Policy & Implementation WG recommendations. Donna referred to a slide deck that was used for the update that was provided for the April Council meeting but those slides (attached here) actually refer to another part of this effort that we are still looking for input on which is the Post-Implementation Consensus Policy Review Framework. PDP updates for ICANN63

Dear Council colleagues, As we enter the final stretch of pre-ICANN63 planning I would like to do a bit of strategic thinking about how we prepare for PDP work in Barcelona. We have over the years tried two methods - devoting time in the Council weekend workshop to an update from each of our live PDPs, and the more recent alternative of a pre-public meeting GNSO policy webinar. There is also, I should add here for context, a broader ICANN policy webinar that occurs prior to public meetings in which the GNSO participates, as do other SO/ACs. The question here is how best/most useful/most efficient to update on our PDPs: on the ground in Barcelona, or advance by webinar? My principal feedback to staff to this point has been that while I think it's very helpful to have the updates before we hit the ground at a f2f, it seems to duplicate efforts to hold both a generic policy webinar *and *a GNSO specific policy webinar.
