The 21 April deadline for the ATRT3 Call for Volunteers<https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2017-01-31-en> is approaching, and, so far, we have received only four responses<https://community.icann.org/display/atrt/Applications+Received>. Therefore, we wanted to give you the heads up that we are going to extend the deadline until 2 June 2017. We will send out an official announcement over the coming days. In addition, we will continue to promote the ATRT3 Call for Volunteers via blogs, newsletters, and in all MSSI updates to the SO/ACs and other groups. We would very much appreciate it if you could help promote the call – and our efforts to publicize it – among your peers. Finally, working under the assumption that, once the Call for Volunteers closes, the SO/ACs will need about 4-6 weeks to make their nominations/endorsements, we suggest to facilitate a conference call in mid-July for you, the Chairs, to make the final selection of the ATRT Review Team. Until she leaves, Gerich will continue to oversee the IANA department and PTI, and has committed to working with ICANN and our various community partners and their leadership teams to ensure an efficient and seamless transition of duties. Gerich, Göran Marby, ICANN’s President and CEO, and I are all fully committed to ensuring that the IANA functions continue to operate smoothly and in service of our community. Gerich has been with ICANN since May 2010, serving as VP, IANA Services, before assuming the additional role of President, PTI, in October 2016. During her tenure at ICANN, she has overseen several important organizational milestones: receiving the EFQM Commitment to Excellence recognition in 2013<https://www.icann.org/news/blog/iana-technical-operations-department-recogn…>, the allocation of the last blocks of unallocated IPv4 IP addresses to the Regional Internet Registries, the launching of the Root Zone Management System (RZMS), which provided a more automated system for handling root zone requests, and, of course, managing the IANA functions during the transition of the stewardship of the IANA functions contract. These are just a few of the many achievements related to IANA under Gerich’s guidance and direction. During her remaining time, she will be leading the IANA functions through another major milestone, with the rollover of the root zone Key Signing Key (KSK) scheduled to occur on 11 October 2017. I know that Elise did not come to this decision lightly, but I also know that she has great confidence in her team’s continuing ability to perform the IANA functions seamlessly under a new team leader. While we will miss her greatly, she is leaving behind a well-established and high performing organization for which we are very grateful. When I asked her about her time at ICANN, she said, “My decision to leave was a difficult one, but this seems like a good time for a hand-off, as the new affiliate PTI is established and stable. And in October, we will have achieved a major milestone with the rollover of the root zone Key Signing Key (KSK).” She added that, “It has been a privilege to work for ICANN and I specifically want to commend my team for their constant commitment to excellence and dedication to serving the community.” I am grateful to Elise for her partnership and contributions over the last seven years and for helping with a smooth handover. I hope you will also join me in thanking her for her dedication and service too! We will be posting a job description shortly and will conduct an open search for her replacement. Dear council members, With regards to my motion for item 7 on the agenda for our meeting on 20 April 2017 - "Approval of GNSO Nominees for the Registration Directory Services Review Team", please be aware that there is a possibility that the motion might be changed or withdrawn before our meeting. The draft motion is based on a "soft" consensus in the SSC, one where a deadline was set for any objections (rather than making sure we had positive agreements from all members). After that deadline, some issues were raised, and we are trying to resolve them, but in worst case a consensus can't be reached in time for our council meeting, in which case I will have to withdraw the motion. DRAFT GNSO Block Schedule for ICANN59

Hi Everyone (apologies for the long email) As you are probably aware there are a few activities going on in preparation for the ICANN 59 Policy Forum meeting in Johannesburg. On one level there are a number of SO/AC representatives participating in the Planning Committee that is convened by the ICANN Organisation. Separately, the GNSO Leadership Team have been working with staff to develop a GNSO related schedule, which is attached. Given the GNSO has a number of PDP WGs currently underway, we are affording the requirements of those efforts priority and we are trying to ensure that no two WGs will be scheduled at the same time. In addition, the RDS PDP WG and the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures PDP WG (you might recall Jeff and Avri forecasting this in Copenhagen—they want to have a substantive discussion with the community about geographic names) will be submitting requests for cross-community discussions or high interest topics that have the potential to take up 5 of the 8 currently allocated slots. The Planning Committee will be considering topics for cross-community discussion next week and I am anticipating resistance to the slots requested by the two WGs. It would be greatly appreciated if you could encourage your representatives on the Planning Committee to support the submissions from the WGs because they are important to progressing the PDP WG efforts and require interaction with the community beyond those on the WGs. And after all—this is a Policy Forum meeting. We will start engaging your respective Stakeholder Groups and Constituencies regarding individual meeting requests in the near future, once we have some other information confirmed, for example, the number of rooms the GNSO will have available for other meetings and what services will be available. But I would ask that you respect the priority we have afforded to the PDP WGs given that this meeting is a Policy Forum, it is only four days, we will have fewer options for rooms, and we would like to see bums on seats in the PDP WG sessions. Happy to answer any questions folks might have and we will let you know when we better understand what services will be available to us in Johannesburg. Thanks Donna
