Dear All, Hereby a reminder for “GNSO Councilors and SG/Cs to review the questions for consideration related to the GNSO PDP Improvements Tracker at https://gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/policy/2022/draft/draft-pdp-impr… [gnso.icann.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/polic…> and provide comments and suggestions in time for discussion at the July 2022 GNSO Council meeting”. As noted during the wrap up meeting, a substantive review of the items listed as well as the next steps suggested will follow. For now, the staff support team is in particular looking for input on the following questions: 1. Does the tracker provide the expected information for Council to consider and keep track of the different proposed improvements? If not, what is missing? 2. At the suggestion of Council members an entry for “impact” has been added. Council to identify who/how to determine impactfullness of each proposed improvement – is this referring to impact on the PDP, impact on resources, a combination of both or something else? 3. As not all improvements are solely within the remit of Council, what is the best way to consult with the broader GNSO community, and possibly beyond that, about this approach and how to enable regular consultation / input? 4. How often should review / updates be planned for? 5. Where should this information be housed – GNSO wiki? 6. How much time is needed for the Council to consider these above questions that need to be addressed before the first substantive review can commence? Of course the Hague meeting was just a comeback to onsite meetings and the majority of us is still readapting to this life but, looking back at all the space restrictions regarding covid, the limited slots we had both for internal and bilateral interactions is something we would like to avoid in the upcoming meetings. Therefore we trust that a 6 day meeting - as assumed by many here - would be the best for now and for this comeback. Once we are slightly more used to this new style of hybrid meetings then I believe we could rediscuss shortening them up, but i believe we have slightly more relevant issues like trying to foresee the next level of covid restrictions or a possible new wave in the coming months, or also thinking about ways of overcoming all the new visa restrictions that made it impossible for community members from Africa or the middle east to attend this meeting. Hi all, Thank you to David for circulating the agenda for next week’s call. I want to support Philippe’s comments below. His sentiments echo the feedback I’ve gotten from RySG members, that limiting ICANN 75 to a four-day meeting will make it difficult to fit in all the sessions and work that the community needs to get done this meeting. I’m happy to go into further detail on the call but wanted to send this initial input over early in case it’s at all helpful as Staff is working on the draft block schedule. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend! It was great seeing many of you in The Hague a few weeks ago and looking forward to chatting on Thursday. I have added a brief bit of context at the start as this issue did not arise from the Board-Council interaction but rather came in separately from the staff. I maintained the two main messages: 1. to emphasize the importance of both (SSAD and SubPro) initiatives, and 2. that the Council does not view itself in a position, nor does it consider it the role of the Council, to dictate the allocation of ICANN org resources now that these policy recommendations are with the ICANN Board. There was some re-arranging / re-wording that would render a redline somewhat ineffective but I can produce one. I hope you find this constructive and helpful.
