Dear Councilors, The GNSO is currently seeking volunteers to fill the roles of GNSO Non-Registry Liaison to the Customer Standing Committee (CSC) and its Alternate. Any member of a GNSO Stakeholder Group/Constituency - except the gTLD Registries Stakeholder Group (RySG) - is eligible to apply. However, with the deadline fast approaching (Wednesday, 16 July 2025 at 23:59 UTC), we have yet to receive any applications for these roles. While the current CSC Charter does not require each SO/AC to appoint a Liaison or Alternate, the effectiveness of the CSC depends on the commitment and expertise of its members. This effectiveness could be compromised if appointing organizations are unable to identify suitable - or any - candidates. To this end, we encourage each of you to reach out to your respective SG/Cs to identify individuals who may be interested in serving in this capacity, and if so, to submit their applications by the deadline. Follow up on ICANN Reviews

Dear Councilors, Below is a summary of our discussion re: ICANN Reviews (Item 4 in the July meeting), along with action items. During our discussion, Councilors seemed aligned with a recommendation that the Board undertake a preliminary bylaw amendment to allow for a one-time review of all Reviews currently required by the Bylaws and to suspend the conduct of all Reviews until this exercise is completed. This amendment would have a safeguard in which current Reviews obligations come back fully into force if there is not sufficient or timely progress on the one-time review or reviews (the details of this part still need to be fleshed out). To that end, we determined that a small group of Council volunteers will work on a response to the Board and review the draft charter of a proposed Cross Community Group (see https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vxjk69_nbWX9Q1CpYHRrCNplyh30wbCSSvkrv-o… ). The response to the Board may include suggested language for a Bylaw amendment if Council decides this is warranted. This group will also designate one or two representatives to attend meetings with other SO/ACs leaders to share GNSO thoughts on Bylaw amendments and the draft charter. Leadership and Staff are coordinating with the team of volunteers on the points above and they will report back to Council with new developments. Please let us know if you have questions. Dear Councilors, Staff has prepared a draft letter for the Council to send to our colleagues in the Global Domains & Strategy (GDS) regarding single character Han script gTLDs.
