Hi everyone, Just to remind you of our Monday SPS session, for you to attend and have a look at the background material that Nathalie shared (last night). Melissa will help us navigate through this, with possibly a follow-up to yesterday in addition to the following. Team Development Event Navigating the evolving nature of GNSO work. This development session is expected to provide Council members specific tools through presentation and facilitated discussion on how to be more effective in a virtual environment, both as a Council member as well as manager of the PDP. It will also highlight specific aspects of the Consensus Playbook that may assist the Council in its work and setting up PDPs for success. Goal: Engage Councilors regarding how they plan to execute on their role within the fully virtual, and possibly hybrid, work environments. Presentation on tips / tools Facilitated discussion topics: * How to make virtual meetings and policy development activities more effective and interactive? Thanks Nathalie: In advance of our discussion and vote on item #4, I think it would be very helpful to have a history lesson. Could Staff please provide us with the names and affiliations of all past voting NomCom appointees to Council? Fellow Councilors: after we see the roster of past appointees and their affiliations, it would be helpful if you (or the groups you represent) could identify known problems associated with such past Councilors’ affiliations (should any exist). Small Team Looking at this Issue: Unless something new is revealed through the exercise above, I remain confident that the way to proceed is to recruit based on character and not to exclude anyone based on their affiliations within the GNSO. I believe that it is a person’s character that matters and their ability to consider all of the concerns of their house and not just the concerns of their closest affiliation that matters. This may be hopelessly naïve and American of me, but absent evidence to the contrary, I think the character-based recruiting approach has worked well and absent an identifiable problem we should stick with it.
