I fully support Lesley's words. Maybe we should try to accomodate more presentations like this (ccTLD update sessions) and less non-value-perceived discussions in other issues, I think we could find many supporters. When times come to discuss really, really relevant policy issues, then it will be obvious that we need to. Dear Councillors, Below is some text which I was planning to send out to the members list regarding the ccTLD update session during the ccNSO meetings. Should you have any objections or concerns, please, let me know by Tuesday, 2nd December. Thanks, Gabi -- Dear all, The ccTLD Update session is an important part of the ccNSO meeting agenda where the participants have a chance to learn more about ccTLDs from around the world. However, as we have more and more interested speakers for this session, we felt that we need to give it a slight structure. For the upcoming ccNSO meeting in Mexico and following ccNSO meetings, we are therefore suggesting following format: - Presentations from ccTLDs which have something to report on new developments within their registry will be prioritised, but we can only allow for three such presentations. - "Status update" presentations will be limited to a maximum of two speakers per meeting. Preference will be given to registries that have not given any update within the last 12 months. - Each presenter will have 10 minutes for their presentation. We regret that we need to put a limit on the number of presentations, however, we hope you understand that these changes are necessary in order to be able to use the meeting time as efficiently as possible.

Call for candidates ICANN Strategic and Operational Plan Committee

Dear all, During the ccNSO Council meeting in Cairo, the Council resolved to set up a committee which would be responsible for the interaction with ICANN on its yearly Strategic and Operational plan http://www.ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/interaction-strat-plan-05nov08.pdf. The objective of the committee is to coordinate and facilitate the participation of ccTLD managers in ICANN's strategic and operational planning process - it is NOT representing individual ccTLD managers. The committee will be comprised of three ccTLD managers - non ccNSO members are also very welcome! Its members will be replaced or reconfirmed in June each year (a committee member can last for a maximum of three terms). The committee taking seat now (December 2008) will, however, be appointed until June 2010 (18 months in total). Should you be interested in joining this committee, please send an email to ccnsosecretariat(a)icann.org until the 10 December. Call for Nominations for seat 12 ICANN Board

Dear all, The term of the ICANN Board member who is appointed on seat 12 is due to end in May 2009. Currently Demi Getschko holds that seat. The ccNSO Council is therefore launching a nomination process to fill this seat for the next term. You can nominate and second a candidate until the 8th December 2008 at 00.00 UTC. In the event two or more candidates are nominated for seat number 12, an election will be held. The details are explained in the Call for Nominations.
