Geographic Regions WG Draft Final Report

Dear all, ICANN’s community-wide Working Group on Geographic Regions has published their draft final report http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-3-30sep11-en.htm (available in all six UN languages). A comment period has also opened until 19 December 2011. In 2007, the ccNSO Council approved a resolution, recommending the formation of a community-wide working group to study and review the issues related to the current definition of the ICANN Geographic Regions. The community-wide working group has analysed the background and principles of the current definition and has consulted with the community on how they should be maintained in the future. Based on this, the Draft Final Report presents recommendations from the Working Group to the ICANN Board on how the present Geographic Regions Framework can be updated, whilst the principles of geographic and cultural diversity remain. The Working Group will also present its recommendations to the ccNSO at the Dakar meeting. Kind regards, Gabi

IDN ccPDP WG 2 Draft Final Report Published

Dear all, The IDN ccPDP WG 2 have posted their draft final report for public comments: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-22oct11-en.htm The purpose of the IDN ccPDP Working Group 2 is to come up with recommendations for the inclusion of IDN ccTLDs in the ccNSO. Comments are welcome until 15 December 2011. The IDN PDP WG 2 will also provide an oversight of the report at the ccNSO members meeting in Dakar on Tuesday at 14.45. Kind regards, Gabi

ccNSO Travel Funding Open for San Jose'

Dear ccTLD community, The ccNSO travel funding committee is now accepting applications to the ICANN meeting in San Jose’, Costa Rica 11 - 16 March 2012. Funding is made available for those who actively participate in the work of the ccNSO and make a special contribution to its projects and meetings. However, you do not need to be a ccNSO member to receive funding! The funding covers an economy class ticket to the travel destination, the hotel costs for the time of the meeting and a per diem. A document with background information and explanations on how the funding shall be distributed is available at http://www.ccnso.icann.org/about/ccnso-travel-funding-09nov10-en.pdf If you think you are eligible to receive funding for the San Jose’ meeting, please send an email to ccnso-travelfunding(a)icann.org by 12.00 noon UTC on the 18 November 2011, at the latest. The email must contain the name and contact details of the applicant as well as a short description of how you think you can contribute to the work of the ccNSO. If you are employed, you must also obtain agreement from the individual that you directly report to at your place of employment, and copy him or her in your application email. You are also very welcome to suggest items that you think should be covered on the meetings agenda. Please, let me know if you should you have any questions, I will be happy to help!
