Call for Nominations to ICANN Board

Dear ccNSO members, The ccNSO is now opening for nominations to fill ICANN Board seat number 11, which expires in June 2011. Nominations can be made from 15th September 00.00 UTC to 6th October 00.00 UTC. The nomination process is outlined below and is also available at http://ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-15sep10-en.htm The election procedure, including a time table, will be sent to you shortly in a separate email and can also be found at http://ccnso.icann.org/about/elections/election-procedure-to-elect-icann-di… Please, note that this differs from the currently ongoing Call for Nominations to the ccNSO Council, which is a separate process! Kind regards, Gabi ---- The term of the ICANN Board seat number 11 expires in June 2011 and a nomination process therefore needs to be launched. Should there be more than one candidate nominated for seat number 11, an election will be held. Bylaw Article IX - section 3.9 states: "The ccNSO Council shall make selections to fill Seats 11 and 12 on the Board by written ballot or by action at a meeting; any such selection must have affirmative votes of a majority of all the members of the ccNSO Council then in office. Notification of the ccNSO Council's selections shall be given by the ccNSO Council Chair in writing to the ICANN Secretary, consistent with Article VI, Sections 8(4) and 12(1)." The ccNSO Council and the ccNSO members have decided that before making the nomination of Directors the ccNSO members shall be entitled to nominate and vote for candidates they wish the Council to nominate to the ICANN Board. Section 2(3) of Article VI of the Bylaws states "In carrying out their responsibilities to fill Seats 9 through 14, the Supporting Organizations shall seek to ensure that the ICANN Board is composed of members that in the aggregate display diversity in geography, culture, skills, experience, and perspective, by applying the criteria set forth in Section 3 of this Article. At any given time, no two Directors selected by a Supporting Organization shall be citizens of the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region."\ Pursuant to this Bylaw, the candidate that receives the highest number of votes from ccNSO members will be nominated by the Council to the ICANN Board. Each member can nominate one candidate for seat 11 on the ICANN Board and each member can second one candidate. In order to nominate or second a candidate, a member must be a member of the ccNSO by 15 September 2010. Results of ccNSO Council Nominations

Dear all, Following people were nominated and seconded in the ccNSO Council nomination process: African Region: Souleymane Oumtanaga, .ci Asia Pacific Region: Hiro Hotta, .jp and Hong Xue (undefined affiliation) European Region: Ondrej Filip, .cz and Roelof Meijer, .nl Latin American Region: Victor Abboud, .ec and Demi Getschko, .br North American Region: Dotty Sparks de Blanc, .vi (see archives at http://forum.icann.org/lists/ccnso-nominations/) All candidates, except Demi Getschko have accepted their nominations. This means that there will be elections held in the Asia-Pacific and European region. A warm welcome to the Councillors for the African, Latin American and North American region: Souleyman Oumtanaga, Victor Abboud and Dotty Sparks de Blanc! Their term will begin directly after the ICANN meeting in March 2011. The timeline for the elections in the Asia-Pacific and European region is as follows: 5 October: Publication of list of electorate; campaign period opens 12 October: Campaign period closes; ballots issues to members of voting electorate 26 October: Voting closes 28 October: Announcement of results by Election manager; Election manager submits Election report More information on the elections will follow closer to the start of the election period. Kind regards, Gabi Meetings For the Next Decade Survey Results and Next Steps As you were one of the respondents to the Meetings for the Next Decade Big Pulse survey (21 May-30 July 2010), we would like to encourage you to join ICANN's Participation and Engagement staff in this webinar about the Public Participation Board Committee's Meetings For the Next Decade ongoing work. ICANN Staff will provide two webinar briefing sessions on Monday, 27 September 2010 at 15.00 and 24.00 UTC. Attendees will hear an overview of the Public Participation Committee's 2010 planned work, learn about the results of the Big Pulse survey and the key issues derived from that, and engage with staff and members of the committee on the next stage of the program, which is to better understand the community's needs in regard to infrastructure and content for the ICANN International Public meetings in the future. The 30-minute presentation will be hosted twice and recorded for later download to make the information accessible to community members in different time zones. Each webinar session will be run in Adobe Connect with a slide presentation along with a dial-in conference bridge for audio. Each session will be conducted in English only. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the sessions via a telephonic audio link and by using the Q&A function of Adobe Connect, as well as participate in a poll during and immediately following the presentation. If you are unable to participate in either of the two live sessions, the slides and an MP3 file will be made available shortly after the sessions.
