17 March 2022 Appointment ccNSO Council Chair and Vice-Chairs Dear John, At its meeting on 10 March 2022 and ion accordance with the temporary election procedure adopted on 24 February 2022, the ccNSO Council appointed Alejandra Reynoso (.gt) as Jordan Carter (.nz) and Adebiyi Oladipo (.ng) as Vice-Chairs. Call for Volunteers: Join the MPC Effectiveness Review Team The ccNSO Council is seeking volunteers to serve on the Meetings Program Committee (MPC) Effectiveness Review Team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of the ccNSO’s platform function and help ensure the MPC continues to deliver value to the ccTLD community. Purpose of the Review The Review Team will assess the effectiveness of the MPC in fulfilling its MPC Charter<https://ccnso.icann.org/en/workinggroups/charter-mpc-17nov22-en.pdf>-defined objectives, including enabling information sharing among ccTLD managers and coordinating the ccNSO Members Meeting agenda at ICANN public meetings. The team will evaluate whether the MPC remains fit for purpose and recommend improvements if needed. The expected closing date of the Review Team is January 2026. The ccNSO Secretariat will provide staff support, and the team will appoint a spokesperson to represent the group when needed. Scope of Work Includes: · Reviewing MPC activities and performance · Interviewing stakeholders across the ccTLD community, for instance at ICANN84 · Evaluating alignment with the ccNSO Meeting Guidelines · Recommending whether the MPC should continue and how its effectiveness might be enhanced Interested? Heads up: RSS GWG Public Comment proceeding

Dear fellow Councillors, the RSS GWG (Root Server System Governance Working Group) has submitted its document "The Root Server System Governance Structure" for public comment: <https://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/proceeding/functional-model-for-roo…> As one of the two ccNSO appointees to the GWG, I would like to suggest that the council review, discuss and provide a comment to this draft output. I would like to draw everybody's attention, in particular, to o the overall governance structure o the proposed implementation phases (page 19) o the 'balance of power' in the proposed Council o the topic of financing (both for the governance structure and the RSS as a whole) This is an important piece of work in the overall Internet Governance discussion, given that it deals with the governance of a technical function that has, from time to time, a significant political exposure. The amount of detail might suggest an extra working session dedicated to the topic. Best regards Peter
