Approval of Roelof Meijer on Travel Fund Committee

Dear Councillors, As you may recall, Lesley Cowley has left her position on the Travel Fund Committee, to meet the new guideline requirements. Roelof Meijer has agreed to take seat on the Travel Fund Committee instead. As the next application round for Travel Funding will open on Friday, 1 March, I would be grateful if you could formally approve Roelof in this position by Thursday, 28 February. Input and feedback requested on submission ccNSO COuncil on dragt ICANN Staff PDP tracking checklist

Dear all, Following the ccNSO Council meting of 12 February you are kindly requested to provide further input/comments on the ccPDP Tracking Checklist comments, if any. This was Item 9 on the agenda. Issue and Background The chair of the ccNSO received a request to share any input to improve a checklist for use when the ccNSO submits policy recommendations for Board consideration. Th checklist is included in the the paper ( Annex B). The original request is included as well (Annex A). The checklist was developed as part of the implementation the ATRT recommendations, in particular as a tool to meet ATRT Recommendation 20, which states: The Board should ensure that all necessary inputs that have been received in policy making processes are accounted for and included for consideration by the Board. To assist in this, the Board should as soon as possible adopt and make available to the community a mechanism such as a checklist or template to accompany documentation for Board decisions that certifies what inputs have been received and are included for consideration by the Board. With the anticipated closure of the IDN ccPDP and the finalization of the recommendations of the FoI WG in the nearer future, it is advised to propose some amendments to the checklist, to ensure the Board is aware of the public consultations, the input received and the consideration of this input. The proposed decision is: The ccNSO Council welcomes the checklist as a tool to meet ATRT recommendation 20. At the same time the Council suggests some changes to the checklist to ensure the policy and policy related activities of the ccNSO resulting in recommendations to the ICANN Board of directors are captured properly. The proposed changes are: · Include a reference to policy and policy related recommendations to the Board · Include the explicit support for the recommendations, and in case of change of recommendations how negative input was weighed against the support. · Update ccNSO section to include input from all ccTLD¹s ( members and non-members of the ccNSO) and Recognized Regional Organizations (AFTLD, APTLD, CENTR and LACTLD) · Include under or related to the GAC input: Input received from individual governments · Align the section on specific outreach with practices of the ccNSO. Whether you plan to participate in the upcoming ICANN meeting in Beijing remotely or in person, you're invited to an update on the background and current status of major policy issues which are likely to be discussed during the Beijing Meeting. The ICANN Policy Staff will provide a briefing on Thursday 21 March at 12.00 UTC and Thursday 21 March at 19.00 UTC, summarizing policy issues across the different ICANN Supporting Organizations, namely the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO), Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and Address Supporting Organization (ASO). Amongst other topics, updates will be provided on: * WHOIS related activities * The locking of a domain name subject to UDRP Proceedings * Protection of IGO and INGO Names * IDN ccNSO PDP * Study Group on Use of Names for Countries and Territories * SSAC report on Domain Name Registration Data Validation Taxonomy The webinar will cover other topics which will be raised during or otherwise relevant to the Beijing Meeting. Dear all, Since there is a lot to learn about the ccNSO and ICANN when joining the community, the ccNSO Secretariat is planning a webinar for ccNSO newcomers a couple of weeks prior to the ICANN Beijing meeting (date to be decided). Anyone who feels that they would like to have more information on how the community works is welcome to join and it might be especially useful for those who are attending an ICANN meeting for the first time in Bejing.
