IDN Variant Issues Project Draft Integrated Issues Report published for public comments

Dear all, ICANN’s IDN Variant Issues Project, which is exploring the benefits and risks associated with the potential inclusion of IDN variant TLDs in the DNS root zone, has published a draft Integrated Issues Report: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-2-23dec11-en.htm It is exploring the issues that have been indentified in relation to the management of IDN variant TLDs. ICANN is now seeking community input on the issues discussed in this draft report. Your feedback is welcome until 30 January 2012. The report will be updated to reflect community feedback and the final Integrated Issues Report will be presented to the ICANN Board of Directors during their meeting at the ICANN public meeting in Costa Rica in March 2012. Survey on ccTLD Contributions to ICANN

Dear all, The ccNSO Finance Working Group is currently conducting a survey on how ccTLDs contribute to ICANN and what contribution models are used for this. It is also trying to find out the ccTLD’s views on the services provided by ICANN to ccTLDs. This survey will help the Finance Working Group in its work to examine what contribution models there are and what contribution models potentially could be used. All ccTLDs (not just ccNSO members) have been contacted by e-mail and received an individual invitation to participate in this survey. If your ccTLD has not received an invitation to participate, please contact me! Please let us know if you have any concerns, or view on the survey. Your contribution is very important! The survey is designed to create an initial baseline of general ICANN stakeholder satisfaction that can be used to develop improvements and compare against future results. We plan to refine the process over time, gather data about additional services, and focus more closely on specific services or projects in future surveys. If you have comments to the survey itself, please make them in the comment box on the last page that is reserve for overall comments. This initial survey will close 31 December 2011 at 12:00 UTC. An ICANN Survey Administrator (an external contractor) will collect and tabulate the results in January 2012. This timetable will support the plan to conduct a public review session of survey results in Costa Rica. A process for follow-up actions and a subsequent survey will then be started. The survey results will be used to identify improvement areas in the organization's services capability and delivery. We intend to share summary reports with the entire ICANN stakeholder community and opportunities for additional community comments will be created before any improvement actions are formalized and implemented.
