For reasons that are complicated, though important, I withdrew from participation in the ATRT this evening. I was forced to choose between representing ICM in connection with what I believe is an uncontested issue - providing due diligence materials and contract provisions in response to the Board's decision in Brussels. I did consider turning down the representation, but ultimately determined that this was simply not fair to ICM, and that it raised profound accountability issues in and of itself. I am very sorry to fail to carry out the trust that the council and the ccNSO invested. But I would do the same for each and every one of you. I believe that the ccNSO now has a seat to fill, and I am happy to staff/support anyone who takes up that position. Becky J. Revised Process for Selection of Sites for ICANN International Public Meetings

Dear all, The process for selecting sites of ICANN meeting has changed. See below. Gabi Community Notice: Revised Process for Selection of Sites for ICANN International Public Meetings http://icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-3-21jun10-en.htm 21 June 2010 The ICANN Board Committee on Public Participation has approved a modified process for identifying the location of ICANN International Public Meetings. The bid process by which ICANN Meeting sites have been chosen in the past inherently limits the range of choices to cities and venues to those that submit a bid. The goal of the modified process is to continue to inform and consult ICANN stakeholders on locations of ICANN Meetings, while ensuring that the venues ultimately selected provide the best combination of logistics and security for all ICANN Meeting delegates. This modified selection process will maintain the current practice of regional rotation of ICANN Meetings, and those in the geographic region will continue to be invited to submit recommendations for specific locations. These recommended venues, along with others in the region that meet the established selection criteria, will be considered. The final location for the ICANN Meeting will then be selected through the evaluation of both community-recommended and ICANN-identified locations. This new meeting site selection process will be implemented beginning with the 40th ICANN International Meeting to be held 13-18 March 2011 in North America. An announcement requesting location recommendations from the ICANN community will be posted on 21 July 2010. It will contain the criteria by which sites will be evaluated. ICANN welcomes your feedback on this revised meeting site selection process and will consider that input to aid in future enhancements to the process.

Call for volunters for Ad-hoc Charter Drafting Group

Dear all, The ccNSO is looking for volunteers for an Ad-hoc Charter Drafting Group. The Drafting Group is expected to define a charter for the planned community-wide Security and Stability Analysis Working Group, which will, once established, include representatives from the GNSO, GAC and ALAC. Those of you who are interested in joining the Charter Drafting Group please, send me an email by the 16th July 2010 at the latest. We are looking for about five people to join this group, a regional balance would be appreciated. You do not need to be a ccNSO member to join the drafting group. Call for new SOP WG members

Dear all, The ccNSO Strategic and Operational Planning (SOP) Working Group is now looking for more members to join the group. The goal of the Working Group is to coordinate and organise participation of ccTLD managers in ICANN's Strategic and Operational planning processes. The group is regularly producing input papers to ICANN's strategic and operational plans, which the ccTLD community is encouraged to take part of (their last input paper on ICANN's Operational plan for Fiscal Year 2011 is available http://ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/sop-wg-review-icann-framework-fy11-24m… See also http://ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/sopiwg.htm for more SOP produced documents). If you attended the Brussels meeting, you will also know that the session on Strategic Issues was organised by the SOP Working Group. Suggestions for volunteers AoC Review Teams for Security, Stability and Resilience of the DNS and Whois

Dear all, ICANN is inviting volunteers to apply for position of a volunteer Review Team Member on the following Review Teams: - Preserving security, stability and resiliency (SSR) of the DNS (two members endorsed by ccNSO); - WHOIS policy (one member endorsed by the ccNSO). To date no volunteer from the ccTLD community has applied. As you may recall from the Brussels meeting, it was suggested that the volunteer for the WHOIS panel would be a person with extensive knowledge of European Privacy law. With regard to the second panel ( SSR), obviously expert substantive knowledge would be useful as well. As the application date for volunteers closes at 15 July at 23.59 UTC, could you suggest potential candidates by the end of this week ( 9 July), so they can be approached next week? Note: Applicants who intend to represent the ccNSO need to be endorsed by the ccNSO.
