Call for additional volunteers to the JIG Working Group

Dear all, The Joint ccNSO/GNSO IDN Working Group (JIG) is looking for additional working group members to join the discussions on various IDN TLD-related topics. In order to have a good representation of the ccTLD perspective in the JIG discussions and recommendations, the ccNSO would like to see an increased participation of ccTLDs in this working group. The purpose of the Ad-hoc ccNSO/GNSO Joint IDN Working Group is to deal with issues related to the introduction of IDN ccTLDs under the IDN ccTLD Fast Track implementation process and IDN gTLDs under the new gTLD implementation process which are of common interest to both the GNSO and ccNSO. Final Integrated Issues Report on IDN Variants published for public comments

The report explores the issues associated with the potential inclusion of IDN variant TLDs in the DNS root zone. Dear all, Thank you for the contact details that some of you provided already. If you did not send me your details but wish to be part of the ccTLD Address Book on the community wiki, please see the information below and send me the information as soon as possible. ---------------------------------------------- As mentioned during the last Council call we are trying to find a way to activate the ccTLD Community Wiki Space. One way could be to introduce a ccTLD Address Book - which has been requested by several community members. The point of the address book would be for the ccTLDs to have a non-public location where they can go to find contact information for their peers and make it easier for everyone to exchange information. Before asking the rest of the community I would like to kindly ask all of you who would like to share your contact information on this closed space to send me your details so that I can compile them and put them on the wiki https://community.icann.org/display/ccTLD/ccTLD+Adress+Book. Call for Topics for Public Forum

Dear all, As usual, a Public Forum will take place on Thursday, 15 March 2012, where Community members can make comments and ask questions to the Board in front of the rest of the community. However, you also have the possibility to ask the ccNSO Chair Lesley Cowley to convey a question/comment on your behalf. As has been the practice in the recent meetings, the Board believes that building an agenda with the input from the community facilitates this forum process and results in a productive session with the subjects that the community thinks are important to talk about. Publishing the agenda as early as possible facilitates more informed discussions during the Public Forum, allowing the Community to be aware of the agenda topics before the meeting actually starts. Lesley will convey the suggestions that the ccTLD community would like to see included in the Public Forum agenda in Costa Rica. These will then be reviewed and accommodated as much as possible, combining common or related topics under one agenda topic. The agenda for the Public Forum will be published before the meeting. Draft Roadmap on the implementation of SSAC Report on Domain Name WHOIS Terminology and Structure

Dear all, ICANN has posted a Draft Roadmap on the implementation of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee's Report on Domain Name WHOIS Terminology and Structure (SAC 051). The SSAC report specifically targets, among other things, the "internationalisation" of the WHOIS protocol, reflecting concern about the inability of the current WHOIS protocol to consistently handle non-ASCII data. Additionally, SAC 051 recommends terminology to be used to clarify discussions where traditionally the terms Whois or WHOIS have been used.
