ccNSO Travel Funding open for Singapore applications

Dear all, The ccNSO travel funding committee is now accepting applications to the ICANN meeting in Singapore 23 27 March 2014. Funding is made available for those who actively participate in the work of the ccNSO and make a special contribution to its projects and meetings. However, you do not need to be a ccNSO member to receive funding! The funding covers an economy class ticket to the travel destination, the hotel costs for the time of the meeting and a per diem. A document with background information and explanations on how the funding shall be distributed is available at: http://ccnso.icann.org/about/travel-funding-12feb13-en.pdf. If you think you are eligible to receive funding for the Singapore meeting, please fill in and submit the travel funding application form http://www.ccnso.icann.org/about/travel-funding by 12.00 noon UTC on 6 December 2013, at the latest. The ICANN Strategy Panel on Multistakeholder Innovation <http://www.icann.org/en/about/planning/strategic-engagement/multistakeholde r-innovation> (the MSI Panel) and The Governance Lab @ NYU <http://thegovlab.org/> (The GovLab) recently launched an online engagement effort aimed at helping to design a 21st century Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) the public interest organization responsible for coordinating the Internet¹s Domain Name System (DNS). We are writing to request your participation in this important initiative and to help us spread the word! The MSI Panel has been charged with: * Proposing new models for international engagement, consensus-driven policymaking and institutional structures to support such enhanced functions; and * Designing processes, tools and platforms that enable the global ICANN community to engage in these new forms of participatory decision-making. The Panel is a small group of seven with no monopoly on the best ideas for what ICANN should or should not do to coordinate the DNS in the public interest. All suggestions to make ICANN more effective and more democratic whether constitutional, structural, legal, procedural or technological will be welcome. While we cannot decide for ICANN, the aim of the MSI Panel is to use its authority to push for real change. Thus, we want ideas that are concrete and specific for innovative processes, structures, platforms, and techniques to design a 21st century ICANN. To gather and organize your input we¹re launching this campaign in three stages: Stage 1: Idea Generation Starting November 19th and running for six weeks via an ideation platform, Ideascale. You can access our MSI Panel community page here <http://bit.ly/1dS9sLp>. On the page, you can submit any and all concrete ideas you have. You can rate and rank others¹ for importance and practicality. November 19 - December 31. Stage 2: Proposal Development Submissions will be grouped into general proposals and opened to discussion using a blog with line-by-line annotation features. This phase will be designed to take ideas closer to implementation. January 14 - January 21. Stage 3: Collaborative Drafting Using a wiki, we will invite collaborative drafting on specific proposals that the Panel will submit to the ICANN CEO, Board and community. January 28 - February 11. Survey on Need of Contact Repository for large-scale DNS Incidents

Dear all, On behalf of the ccNSO Contact Repository Implementation (CRI) Working Group, I would be really grateful if the person responsible for security issues in your registry could reply to following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VYPZL7M The CRI Working Group was set up in 2011 to advise the community on how to implement a service that would enable ccTLD operators to contact each other to handle large-scale DNS(-related) incidents. The service is known as the ³ccTLD Contact Repository² and originates from the work of the Incident Response (IR) Working Group, which the ccNSO established in the aftermath of the Conficker incident back in 2009. The CRI Working Group has been working on the requirements and governance model of the Contact Repository, but feels that the added value of the service is difficult to convey without articulated realistic use cases that illustrate how the service would be used for what types of incidents. Before moving forward, the Working Group therefore solicits feedback from the community on this matter as well as on the service¹s perceived added value and potential costs. If you are responsible for your ccTLD¹s DNS security and stability, then please fill in the survey before Monday, 16 December 2013. If your security person is not subscribed to this mailing list, then the Working Group would be grateful if this email could be forwarded to the appropriate person.
