Position of ccNSO Chair

Dear Councillors & Secretariat, My second term as ccNSO Chair is due to complete at the end of our forthcoming Beijing meeting. How quickly the last two years have flown by! With the hugely appreciated support of great Council Members and the wonderful Secretariat, I have enjoyed my time as ccNSO Chair. I hope that I have been able to be of service to the ccTLD Community during my tenure. As many of you will be aware, Nominet is changing and diversifying and the market in which we operate is also changing. The Board of Nominet understandably feel that my time as CEO will need to be increasingly focussed on the forthcoming opportunities and challenges for Nominet in this changing market. I therefore regret to advise that I will be unable to stand for a further years term. I have taken several soundings about a potential successor and I am optimistic that one will step forward. However, if necessary, I am authorised to offer to remain in post until the end of our Durban meeting, in order to allow for an orderly succession. Happy to discuss further at our forthcoming meeting & safe travels everyone. Dear Councillors, As you may remember the Election Review Group was created to deal with issues that arose after the last election. According to plan, in Beijing we will present the main outcome of our work and after the meeting will send a written report to the Council. During our discussions we identified several issues that are not directly related to our main task. However, we believe that these issues should be explored and addressed, preferably by a larger working group. Invitation to ccTLD Community Cocktails in Beijing

The Cocktails will be held on Tuesday, 9 April at 18.30 20.30 at the Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel. Your skills and expertise needed!

Dear Councillors, As you know, the Capacity Building Study Group has drafted a final report (attached), which will be presented to you during the Council Workshop in Beijing and will then be submitted for your adoption during the Council meeting later that week. You might recall that we asked for your comments/feedback by last Friday (22 March). Since we didn't receive any, we understand that the Council doesn't see any major issues with it. In the report, you can read that the Capacity Building Study Group is suggesting to define standing "task forces" within the Council and the Community, to be able to ensure a competent and timely response on requests that the ccNSO is receiving. First of all, we would like to define what pools of expertise there is within the Council, which we can then build upon with skills from further community members. Therefore, I would be grateful if you could let me know what kind of areas you think you would like to be involved in and which areas you would NOT want to deal with. Suggested areas are: Legal Financial Technical Administrative Strategy Internet Governance Other? (You are most welcome to add any further areas!) I would be grateful if you could let me know by Friday, 29 March which area you think would be most suitable for you. Kind regards, Gabi
