ICANN Announces Creation of five Strategy Panels

Dear all, ICANN has announced the creation of five new ICANN Strategy Panels that will "serve as an integral part of a framework for cross-community dialogue on strategic matters. The ICANN Strategy Panels will convene subject matter experts, thought leaders and industry practitioners to support development of ICANN's strategic and operational plans, in coordination with many other global players, and will be comprised of up to seven members including the chair for an anticipated one-year timeframe": http://www.icann.org/en/news/announcements/announcement-15jul13-en.htm Whilst the Chairs of the Panels have been identified, panel members are still sought. Potential members should "have a deep understanding of and concern for the work being undertaken by ICANN, and an ability to think strategically, globally, and creatively about the challenges inherent in the ICANN Strategy Panels' mandate." Interested individuals should send their resume/CV to the email addresses affiliated with each of the specialty areas by 29 July 2013. Dear all, For those of you who will participate in the ccNSO members meeting in Durban: We will meet with the The Second Accountability and Transparency Review Team (ATRT 2) on Tuesday, 16 July 17:20-17:35 (see agenda http://ccnso.icann.org/meetings/durban/agenda.htm) The ATRT 2 has prepared some questions that they wish to ask you during this meeting please, see below. These questions have also been posted on the agenda page. Kind regards, Gabi 1. The multi-stakeholder model presumes we can get substantive involvement from all stakeholders, including those who do not have financial interests at stake. Is that being achieved effectively, and if not, what does ICANN need to change to be able to do it effectively? 2. There has been a lot of discussion, and some ATRT1 recommendations, related to the Public Comment process. Do you think the process to receive comments is working well, and if not, what needs to be done to fix or change it? For the comments that are received, do you feel that those requested by PDP Working Groups, Staff and the Board are effectively taken into account in ultimate decisions? 3. New Triage Committee Member Sought!

Dear Coucillors, As you may know, our NomCom appointed Councillor Mary Wong recently left her position on the ccNSO Council. As Mary was one of the three Triage Committee members, we now need to find a replacement. The Triage Committee is a newly formed group, which is making recommendations to the Council on how to react to the various requests for input that the ccNSO is receiving throughout the year. We need a person that has a fairly broad knowledge base about the various issues of our industry. It is essential to be responsive to emails, as the Triage group only has two working days to take a decision on how to move forward.
