The unequal treatment of new gTLDs and new ccTLDs on this issue by the Board has been a concern for ARI for some time and one that Adrian has raised with ICANN on a number of occasions; most recently in a letter to Steve Crocker (copy attached). Adrian was pleased to learn from Bart that Akram Atallah had reached out the ccNSO about this issue via a briefing paper dated 19 February 2014, which was followed up with a briefing by Francisco Arias during the ccNSO meeting Singapore. My read of the briefing paper and the presentation by Francisco is that absent advice from the ccNSO on this issue, ICANN intends to do the following for new ccTLDs: Send each new ccTLD manager the same kind of interim report that new gTLDs received for the alternate path to delegation. It will remain the responsibility of the local Internet Community and the ccTLD manager to either: 1) proceed to delegation while temporarily blocking the SLDs identified in the report; 2) temporarily defer delegation until receipt of their full collision occurrence assessment and implementation of the measures described; or 3) some other course of action determined by the local Internet Community and the ccTLD manager. We're interested in understanding whether the ccNSO intends to respond to ICANN on this issue, or perhaps they already have, in which case could you provide me with a copy of the response. Dear all, Please find below a status update on the actions from the Council call on 17 April: Action 94-01: Demi Getschko to send an update to the Council email list on the developments around NETmundial. Not completed Action 94-02: Bart Boswinkel and Becky Burr to amend the draft statement by the IANA Transfer Coordination Committee to accommodate the comments made and to re-circulate it to the Council email list in order to submit it to ICANN prior to 8th May. Completed Action 94-03: The Secretariat to investigate the options for limiting the number of Working Group members for the UCTN Working Group without excluding anyone and advise the Council on the email list subsequent to the NETmundial meeting.
