The Second Eastern European DNS Forum to Take Place in Belarus

Dear All, The second Eastern European Domain Name System Forum (EEDNSF eednsforum.org) will take place from 12-13 October 2017, in Minsk, Belarus. The event is organized by ICANN in partnership with the technical administrator of ccTLDs .BY and .БЕЛ, hoster.by company, also hosting the event. It follows on the success of the first edition held in Kiev last year, which attracted more than 200 participants from the region. The event is part of ICANN's regional outreach efforts to raise awareness on issues related to the Domain Name System (DNS), and collaborate with the stakeholders through discussions on areas of further development. The Forum will bring together interested parties and world experts in the field to share experiences, and inform participants about updates on the regional and global domain industry trends. It will cover topics such as DNS abuse and threats, ICANN regional strategy, legal issues in DNS industry, DNSSEC abd KSK rollover and regional views from registries and registrars. The first day of the event will cover technical presentations and the second day will be devoted to policy-related discussions. The event provides participants with an opportunity to interact with each other and discuss various business, technical and policy aspects of the domain industry with experts from the field. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) liaison to ICANN Board, Jonne Soininen is among the speakers to talk about name spaces as well as priorities in DNS industry. Dave Piscitello, ICANN VP of Security and ICT Coordinator, will also be at the event to discuss DNS security related topics. Dear Councillors, This is to consult with you regarding the location of the joint meeting between the ccNSO and the ICANN Board at ICANN60, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 1 November between 13:30 and 14:30. We were given the opportunity to specify our preference for the location of that meeting: either the ccNSO meeting room, or the main hall. Please note that we have the possibility to avoid switching rooms, and hence to avoid losing time, if we meet with the Board in the ccNSO room. Could you please confirm your preference? 1. Who can nominate/second? Individuals are elected in their personal capacity and serve the ccTLD community. Councillors do not represent the views and interests of their employers. Candidates need to be neither resident in the region nor a citizen of a country within the region in which they stand for election. A valid candidate is one that has been nominated and seconded according to the ccNSO council Election Guideline, and that has accepted the nomination. If there is more than one valid candidate in a Geographical Region, an election shall be conducted in that region. Voting will be by secret ballot: the ballot is identified only by a code and not by a name. Accepting nominations After closure of the nomination period, the Election Manager will ask the candidates that are nominated to accept their nomination. Self-nominations are understood to have accepted their nomination. The Election Manager will provide a list with the name(s) of the candidate(s) who have accepted their nomination.
