Call for Volunteers for the Third Review of ICANN Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3)

Dear all, ICANN is seeking volunteers to serve on the Third Review of ICANN Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3). The specific objectives for the Accountability and Transparency (ATRT3) Review are to review ICANN's execution of its commitment to maintain and improve robust mechanisms for public input, accountability, and transparency so as to ensure that the outcomes of its decision-making reflect the public interest and are accountabile to the Internet community. ICANN's Accountability and Transparency Review originated under the Affirmation of Commitments in 2009. Effective 1 October 2016, ICANN's obligation to conduct this review was incorporated into ICANNBylaws. The composition of the Review Team will be determined by the ICANN community. Dear All, ICANN is pleased to remind community members that the nomination period for ICANN's Multistakeholder Ethos Award will be open until 20 March 2017. Launched in 2014 at ICANN50 in London, the Multistakeholder Ethos Award recognizes ICANN participants who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions, acknowledging the importance of ICANN's multistakeholder model of Internet governance, and contributed in a substantive way to the higher interests of ICANN's organization and its community. https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2017-02-07-en The ideal recipient(s) will have served in roles in multiple ICANN working groups or committees and collaborated with more than one Supporting Organization and/or Advisory Committee in a significant capacity. Candidates for the award will demonstrate at least five years of participation in the ICANN Community. Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of community members appointed by the Chairs of each Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees using a merit-based point system evaluated against three criteria: 1. Demonstrated ability to work across community lines with both familiar and unfamiliar ICANNStakeholders with the aim of consensus building and collaboration that substantiate ICANN's multistakeholder model; 2. Facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair and collegial manner, through the spirit of collaboration as shown through empathy and demonstrating a sincere desire to engage with people from other backgrounds, cultures, and interests; and 3. Demonstrated additional devotional factors exhibited by time spent supporting ICANN's multistakeholder model and its overall effectiveness through volunteer service via working groups or committees. Dear All, The Policy Development Support Team is pleased to announce two sessions for the Pre-ICANN58 Policy Open House on Monday, 6 March 2017 at 10:00 UTC and 19:00 UTC. The focus of each open house session is an active question and answer session with the Policy Development Support Team. The new format will feature: * Decreased Duration | Two 60-minute sessions, rather than two 90-minute briefings * Interactive Format | A question and answer exchange with the Policy Team * Preparatory Materials | The Pre-ICANN58 Policy Report<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/presentations-2012-08-27-en> and Generic Names Supporting Organization Policy Briefing ICANN58 Edition<https://gnso.icann.org/en/issues/background-briefings> This improved structure will allow the ICANN community to ask questions about policy and advice development work taking place at ICANN58. These draft recommendations were developed by the CCWG-Accountability as required by Annex 12 of the final report of the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability, Work Stream 1). · Current Status: The CCWG-Accountability reviewed these draft recommendations at its 8 February 2017 plenary meeting and approved their publication to gather public comments. · Next Steps: Following the public comment period the inputs will be analyzed by the CCWG-Accountability WS2 who will consider amending its recommendations in light of the comments received and will publish a report on the results of the public consultation. Dear All, From today onwards, it is possible to apply for ccNSO travel funding for the ICANN59 public meeting, taking place between 26 and 29 June 2017 in Johannesburg (ZA). The application window opens today, 23 February 2017, at 12:00 UTC (noon) and closes 9 March 2017 23:59 UTC. No early/late submissions will be accepted. Funding to attend and participate in ICANN59 is made available to a small set of travelers, who meet the following requirement: They actively participate in the work of the country code Name Supporting Organisation, and make a special contribution to its projects and meetings. Examples of contributions to the work of the ccNSO: an active engagement in a ccNSO working group, a presentation at the ccNSO member meeting, or other engagements that strengthen the activities of the ccNSO. Important: Applications which do not clearly state an active contribution, are not eligible and will not be taken into consideration. The funding covers an economy class ticket to the travel destination, the hotel costs for the time of the meeting and a per diem (either full funding, or partial funding).
