Throughout, Stephane strove to work across constituencies to collaborate and build consensus on key issues facing the ICANN community. Please explain how the nominee meets the Award criteria #2? As noted above, Stephane Van Gelder served in leadership roles in the RrSG, the RySG, GNSO Council, and the Nominating Committee. These key leadership roles required that he rise above partisan politicking and seek consensus. In particular, his service on the NomCom required that he engage with people from other backgrounds, cultures and interests in order to achieve the group’s goals and best serve the ICANN community. Please explain how the nominee meets the Award criteria #3? Stephane Van Gelder volunteered an enormous amount of time serving the ICANN community. Besides all of the time he spent on the GNSO Council, Nominating Committee, RrSG and RySG, Stephane also contributed countless hours on Policy Development Process WGs and CCWGs. A tireless networker, he was always debating with colleagues across the community. Stephane also made the time to brief ICANN Fellows on the how the ICANN community functions. Please provide any further information in support of your nomination for panelists to review during the deliberation process as appropriate: Stephane Van Gelder tragically died from injuries suffered during a traffic accident on 26 March 2018. While we’ll never know what other services he may have provided the ICANN community, Stephane’s lasting legacy will be the significant body of work he performed over the years. We believe this legacy fully lives up to and deserves the recognition of ICANN’s Multistakeholder Ethos Award.

The purpose of the ccNSO Guidelines Review Committee (GRC) is to review the current guidelines and to ascertain whether they reflect current practices and working methods, identify potential gaps, and based on this analysis propose changes to the current guidelines to the Council. R.I.P Stéphane Van Gelder

So sad to report the passing of our friend and colleague from the gTLD community Stéphane Van Gelder who was involved in a motorcycle crash on Friday and died in hospital this morning. Stéphane was a vibrant, optimistic, full of life man. And a friend. I’ll share details of any memorial services when I have them. Chris

Notification - SLA Monitoring System API Production Release

Dear all, The message below has been forwarded to you upon request of GDD Technical Services and Registry Services Teams. = = = Dear Colleague, This is to notify you that the ICANN Monitoring System API (MoSAPI) for generic and country code top-level domain (gTLD/ccTLD) registries beta testing has concluded and the MoSAPI is now available in production. You may consider using this service to monitor the health of your ccTLD DNS service in near real-time. The measurements are based on DNS service availability as defined in Specification 10 of the gTLD Base Registry Agreement<https://newgtlds.icann.org/sites/default/files/agreements/agreement-approve…> (for example, the DNS service is considered to be up when all the IP addresses of at least two of the name servers for a given TLD are considered to be up). We recognize the gTLD Base Registry Agreement does not apply to ccTLDs, but as a service to the community, the monitoring data of the ccTLD is available to the ccTLD operator.
