Dear Councillors, This is a reminder that we seek 3 (three) Councillors to serve on the ccNSO COP Selection Committee: 1 NomCom appointed councillor, and 2 elected councillors, preferably from different regions. Following the December 2018 ccNSO Council meeting and the adoption of the Terms of Reference for the ccNSO COP, please find included the call for volunteers for the ccNSO Community Onboarding Programme (COP) Selection Committee. The role of the ccNSO COP Selection Committee: The ccNSO COP Selection Committee is responsible for receiving and assessing all applications by candidate mentors and mentees under the ccNSO COP. The committee will ensure that a simple mechanism exists by which applicants may apply for mentor or mentee-ship. The Committee will assess the applications according to the selection criteria included in the ccNSO COP Terms of Reference. The ccNSO COP Selection Committee makes decisions online and meets either in person at an ICANN meeting or via conference call where convenient. Terms of Service of the ccNSO COP Selection Committee: The term for the initially appointed members are: ● for member 1 – one (1) year, ● for member 2 – two (2) years ● for member 3 – three (3) years The ccNSO Council decides on the terms of the initially appointed members. After the initial appointment the regular term of appointment shall be three (3) years. Committee members are not eligible for re-appointment. Members may resign at any time if circumstances arise that prevent them from effectively performing their function. If a member resigns, the ccNSO Council may appoint a replacement, who will serve for the remainder of the period. The non-voting member from the staff of the ccNSO Secretariat does not have a term-end. Next Steps After closure of this call for volunteers, the ccNSO council will evaluate the applications and appoint the members of the committee. Background The ccNSO COP is designed to improve engagement and retention of new participants within the ccNSO by creating a structured, year-round onboarding process and mentorship structure, tailored by and for the ccNSO. The ICANN Community Onboarding Programme results from discussions between the community and the ICANN starting at ICANN49 and concluding at ICANN51. This broader consultation process sought to address volunteer burnout and improve newcomer retention rates. In January 2016, the ICANN COP Pilot was launched to develop an individualized, tailored mentorship process. The programme concluded at the end of ICANN’s FY18. The objective of the ccNSO COP is to continue a COP tailored to the needs and within the limits of the ccNSO environment. PDP WG on Retirement Letter to Council

As you will recall, I mentioned this issue at our face to face meeting in Barcelona, and again on a subsequent teleconference, I presume we will have some discussion of this matter on our upcoming teleconference, as there is an agenda item for the PDP WG. Dear All. You are kindly invited to participate in a survey, published by Meridian Institute, the independent examiner conducting the second review of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO). Read more: https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2-2018-11-27-en The survey closes today, 11 January 2019. The aim of the survey is to collect input from those who have interacted with ccNSO or have suggestions for ways to improve it. The survey is informed by learnings from Meridian Institute's research and interviews conducted to date. Following the close of the survey on 11 January 2019 (originally 21 December 2018) at 23:59 UTC, Meridian Institute will evaluate responses, along with input received via interviews and other forums, as input to its assessment report. The assessment report is expected to be posted for community consultation in February 2019. As with all ICANN Organizational Reviews, the second ccNSO Review is following a two-phased approach, in which the independent examiner first completes its assessment and then makes recommendations to address the findings noted during the assessment. Panelists for ICANN's Multistakeholder Ethos Award

Dear Colleagues, As you probably know, nominations for ICANN's Multistakeholder Ethos Award have already started coming in. ICANN would like to organise this year's selection panel prior to the ICANN Public Meeting in Kobe. The panellists will evaluate the candidates against three criteria: 1. Demonstrated ability to work across community lines with both familiar and unfamiliar ICANN Stakeholders with the aim of consensus building and collaboration that substantiate ICANN's multistakeholder model; 2. Facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair and collegial manner, through the spirit of collaboration as shown through empathy and demonstrating a sincere desire to engage with people from other backgrounds, cultures, and interests; and 3. Demonstrated additional devotional factors exhibited by time spent supporting ICANN's multistakeholder model and its overall effectiveness through volunteer service via working groups or committees. On our call next week, we should select two panelists to evaluate the candidates. Margarita has served on the panel for two years and, therefore, is not eligible for another term. Abibu has served for one year. To ensure continuity, it would have been good if Abibu agreed to do it for one more year. Participation in Ethos Award selection panel will be on our agenda. The ccNSO Meeting Programme Working Group invites you to share your best practices, project solutions, implementations and case studies by presenting at the ccTLD news session, covering for instance recent developments, ccTLD activities and ccTLD management related topics, both from an operational, marketing or legal point of view. The next ccTLD news session is tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of day 2 of the ccNSO Members Meeting, on Wednesday, 13 March 2019 in Kobe, Japan (ICANN64). The PDP is chartered to evaluate what changes or additions need to be made to existing new gTLD policy recommendations. Work Track 5 focuses on one specific issue within the Working Group's charter, the topic of geographic names at the top level. The Working Group issued its first Initial Report, containing the output of the Working Group on the Overarching Issues as well as preliminary recommendations and questions for community feedback from Work Tracks 1-4, on 3 July 2018. This Supplemental Initial Report contains outputs from Work Track 5 only, which started later than the other PDP Work Tracks and has therefore operated on a different timeline.
