Hello everyone. This is a last reminder about the ongoing call for nominations for the ccNSO Council. The nomination and secondment procedure closes Tuesday, 15 October 2019 (23:59 UTC). To date, at least one nomination/secondment has been received, on a per region basis. Nominations must be seconded by another ccNSO member from the same Geographic Region. By accepting their nomination, individuals nominated to the ccNSO Council agree to support the policies committed to by ccNSO members.” In March 2020, at the conclusion of ICANN67 in Cancun, the 3-year term of the following ccNSO Councillors ends: * Souleymane Oumtanaga (Africa) * Hirofumi Hotta (Asia-Pacific) * Giovanni Seppia (Europe) * Alejandra Reynoso (Latin America/Caribbean) * Stephen Deerhake (North America) The ccNSO opened a call for nominations to fill those seats. At least 90 days before the end of the regular term of any ccNSO-member-selected member of the ccNSO Council, or upon the occurrence of a vacancy in the seat of such a ccNSO Council member, the ccNSO Council shall establish a nomination and election schedule, which shall be sent to all ccNSO members within the Geographic Region and posted on the Website." How to nominate and second a candidate Timeline The nomination and secondment procedure Tuesday, 24 September 2019 (00:01 UTC) and closes 3 weeks later, on Tuesday, 15 October 2019 (23:59 UTC) Who can nominate/second? Bylaw Article 10 – Section 10.4 (h) [icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_resource…> states: “(h) Any ccNSO member may nominate an individual to serve as a ccNSO Council member representing the ccNSO member’s Geographic Region. Nominations must be seconded by another ccNSO member from the same Geographic Region. By accepting their nomination, individuals nominated to the ccNSO Council agree to support the policies committed to by ccNSO members.” As per the relevant ccNSO guideline [ccnso.icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__ccnso.icann.org_sites_…>, new ccNSO members are able to participate in the nomination process if the ccNSO membership application has been approved by the ccNSO Council one day prior the nomination process starts, i.e. latest on 23 September 2019. Self-nominations must be seconded by two ccNSO members from the region. Individuals are elected in their personal capacity and serve the ccTLD community. Councillors do not represent the views and interests of their employers. Candidates need to be neither resident in the region nor a citizen of a country within the region in which they stand for election. If there is more than one valid candidate in a Geographical Region, an election shall be conducted in that region. Accepting nominations After closure of the nomination period, the Election Manager will ask the candidates that are nominated to accept their nomination. Self-nominations are understood to have accepted their nomination. The Election Manager will provide a list with the name(s) of the candidate(s) who have accepted their nomination. Dear all, Please note that during ICANN66 in Montreal the Empowered Community Admnistration expects to run a public Approval Action Community Forum regarding the Board approved change to a fundamental Bylaw, Article 18, Section 18.7(b) relating to the composition of the IANA Naming Functions Review (ICANN Board resolution 2019.09.08.05: https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2019-09-08-en#1.e [icann.org] This Fundamental Bylaw change was requested by the ccNSO and looks at the composition of future IANA Function Review Teams. Dear All, On Wednesday, 2 October 2019, 23.59 UTC, the recent call for nominations for the position of ICANN Board seat 11 was closed. In accordance with the applicable rules, the following candidates were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination: Calvin Browne Nigel Phair Patricio Poblete The candidates are listed in alphabetical order. All 3 candidates accepted their nomination, and due diligence verifications will be starting shortly. An election will be held - starting in January 2020, after completion of the due diligence verifications - according to the timeline previously agreed upon by the ccNSO Council. The ccNSO Council and ccNSO members have agreed that the ccNSO members shall propose and elect candidates for the two ICANN Board seats allocated to the ccNSO, and that the winner of said election - i.e. the candidate that receives the majority of the votes cast - shall in turn be nominated to the ICANN Board seat by a majority vote of the ccNSO Council. A Q&A session will be held at the upcoming ccNSO Members Meeting at ICANN66 in Montréal, Canada. Hello all, Between Wednesday, 9 October 2019 (00:01 UTC) and Wednesday, 23 October 2019 (noon UTC) it is possible to apply for ccNSO travel funding to attend the ICANN67 ICANN Community Forum, taking place 7-12 March 2020 in Cancún, Mexico. No early/late submissions will be accepted. What are the requirements for applicants? The applicant actively participates in the work of the ccNSO and makes a special contribution to its projects and meetings. Examples of contributions to the work of the ccNSO: an active engagement in a ccNSO working group, a presentation at the ccNSO member meeting, or other engagements that strengthen the activities of the ccNSO. Important: Applications which do not clearly state an active contribution, are not eligible and will not be taken into consideration. What is included? The funding covers an economy class ticket to the travel destination, the hotel costs for the time of the meeting and a per diem (either full funding, or partial funding). ccNSO Travel Fund Guideline: https://ccnso.icann.org/en/about/guidelines.htm How to apply?
