These reports provide background information for the ICANN69 Virtual Annual General Meeting scheduled for 13-22 October 2020. NEW: ICANN69 Social Media Sharing Campaign To get the community excited about and engaged with ICANN69, ICANN is launching a new social media campaign. For ICANN67, the campaign asked participants to share photos of their workspace; for ICANN68, we asked for photos of the city from where participants joined the meeting. For ICANN69, the campaign is called #ICANNintermission. This time, we are asking members of the ICANN community, ICANN Board, and ICANN org to send us photos of what they like to do between sessions (yoga, going for a run, playing with their pets, playing soccer with their kids, etc.). We need a few photos to get the campaign started! Photos need to be in landscape mode, (see example above) preferably with the subject in the center to crop the image. Please provide the city and any other information you want to let us know. Send photos and information to icanncontent(a)icann.org. THIS WEEK: ICANN69 Prep Week ICANN org recently announced the ICANN69 Prep Week schedule. Twelve webinars will be offered from 5-8 October 2020. To access the Prep Week schedule, please register for ICANN69. CLOSES NEXT THURSDAY: Nominations for NextGen Selection Committee and Mentor Positions Now Open From: Sally Costerton, Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President, Global Stakeholder Engagement The ICANN org NextGen Program announced that it is seeking nominations for mentors and for the NextGen selection committee. Communities may choose to appoint program alumni and are encouraged to appoint active community members who have an interest in mentoring students. There are three slots available for mentors, and five slots for selection committee members. Each SO/AC is asked to nominate candidates for both positions. Individual self-nominations will not be considered. Interested community groups should select their respective NextGen@ICANN volunteers by Thursday, 15 October 2020 and notify Deborah Escalera at nextgen(a)icann.org. REMINDER: Making ICANN Public Meetings Work for You From: Göran Marby, ICANN President and CEO The ICANN Board is seeking community feedback to assess the effectiveness of our virtual Public Meetings, the improvements that the org should make to its support for the community’s work at meetings, and any other aspects that should be integrated into our in-person meeting strategy going forward. ICANN org is sending a survey to our Supporting Organization (SO) and Advisory Committee (AC) chairs to spark a discussion within each group, as this discussion belongs to the community. The chairs will then coordinate and consolidate their respective group’s feedback. The Board will also host a session at ICANN69 to continue the conversation with the community about our meeting strategy. The survey will serve as a guidepost for those discussions. Board Meeting Materials - We’ve made upgrades to this content type since the May 2020 release. ccNSO Council Elections: Candidate List

Dear ccNSO Members, This is to inform you about the status and next steps for the 2020 ccNSO Council elections. In accordance with the approved timeline, the nomination period for the ccNSO Council closed on Wednesday, 30 September 2020, 23:59 UTC. The nomination archives can be found here<https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/ccnso-nominations/>. In accordance with the applicable rules, the following candidates were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination for the ccNSO council election: * Africa: Hadji Mmadi Ali * Asia-Pacific: Anil Kumari Jain, Boyoung Kim, Jiankang Yao * Europe: Irina Danelia * Latin America – Caribbean: Jenifer Lopez * North America: Sean Copeland This announcement will be posted here: https://ccnso.icann.org/en/about/elections/council.htm Next steps: Africa, Europe, Latin America/Caribbean, North America As only one candidate was nominated and seconded within the nomination period for the African, European, Latin American-Caribbean and North American regions, no elections need to be held in those regions. Since at the close of nominations there are no more valid candidates in the aforementioned geographic regions than there are seats on the ccNSO Council available for those regions, the nominated candidates shall be selected to serve on the ccNSO Council. Next steps: Asia-Pacific For the Asia-Pacific region, in accordance with the applicable rules, three (3) candidates were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination. Consequently, an election will be held - according to the timeline previously agreed upon by the ccNSO Council - among the ccNSO members from the Asia-Pacific region. * Election opening and closing Voting in the first election round starts on Tuesday, 03 November 2020 (00:01 UTC) and closes on Tuesday, 17 November 20202 (23:59 UTC), as per the timeline<https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/138970351/Item%209%20-%20t…> approved by the ccNSO Council. * Election procedure The vote will be by confidential email. Voting ballots will be sent by tally(a)icann.org<mailto:tally@icann.org> to the e-mail address of the primary contact of each ccNSO Member from the Asia-Pacific region, as listed in the ccNSO Members database. As per the relevant guideline, a majority of all ccNSO members in the Geographic Region entitled to vote shall constitute a quorum, and the selected candidate must receive the votes of a majority of those cast by ccNSO members within the Geographic Region. All candidates that accepted their nominations are invited to participate in the Q&A session, which will provide the ccNSO members and broader ccTLD community an opportunity to interact with the Council candidates. Hello everyone, The ICANN69 Policy Outlook Report<http://go.icann.org/outlook69> (formerly known as the Pre-ICANN69 Policy Report) is now available. The purpose of this report is to summarize policy activities and meeting or session highlights across the ICANN policy development community – including the ccNSO - taking place at ICANN69. Welcome message by David Olive, Senior Vice President, Policy Development Support: Welcome to ICANN69! I am pleased to present the ICANN69 Policy Outlook Report written by the Policy Development Support team. This report provides a high-level overview of the planned work and activities of the Supporting Organizations, Advisory Committees, and the Empowered Community at ICANN69. ICANN69 is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the ICANN community, Board, and organization. This will be the first virtual AGM, taking place in the Hamburg, Germany time zone (UTC+2), which is where this meeting was originally scheduled. ICANN69 features two weeks of sessions that will showcase the work of ICANN. Community Days will be devoted to work sessions and outreach. The second week will focus on plenary sessions, including the Public Forum and the AGM. We will also celebrate our community at ICANN69. We will recognize the contributions of leaders from across the Supporting Organizations, Advisory Committees, and other ICANN community groups. The inaugural Dr. Tarek Kamel Award for Capacity Building will also be presented. We hope you will join us for these special moments. A global community of stakeholders and participants with different backgrounds and points of view help coordinate and support the unique identifiers of the Internet. The Internet functions for everyone because everyone is invited to help make it work. Consensus policies developed through the multistakeholder model are highly effective and have the greatest legitimacy. Thank you all for making the time and effort to attend this meeting. No matter if you are an ICANN regular, an occasional participant, or a newcomer, I encourage you to actively engage in this meeting. Language Services at ICANN69

I'm pleased to tell you that we will once again offer remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) in the six United Nations languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) for key ICANN69 sessions. These resources will be available for the ICANN69 Virtual Annual General and related meetings: · The ICANN69 Language Services team is comprised of 34 contracted interpreters along with a team of five in-house Language Expert/Head Interpreters. The entirely remote team will work from eight different countries. · The team is operating during Prep Week in addition to its work during ICANN69's Community Days and Plenary Week. · We will use the RSI platform once again, supporting up to three rooms concurrently. Please see the Participation Guide<https://meetings.icann.org/en/remote-participation> for more details on how to use this tool. · Exact resources for each session are contained in the schedule listing. Since then, the ccNSO has adapted to the evolving ways in which ICANN operates, and it has grown from 45 members to the 172 members we have today. Along the way, there have been significant developments that have had a bearing on how the ccNSO operates. We wish to continue the discussion around the Rules of the ccNSO that was begun during ICANN61 in Puerto Rico in March of 2018.
