Information Sharing NEW: ICANN Public Meetings Survey ICANN org is conducting a survey to determine individual comfort and tolerance for gatherings of ICANN Public Meeting participants and investigate the possibility of organizing ICANN72 in a hybrid format with virtual and in-person attendance in Seattle. NEW: Improving How We Work with the ICANN Community on ICANN Public Meeting Planning As part of its March 2021 decision to hold the upcoming ICANN71 Policy Forum as a virtual meeting, the ICANN Board agreed with the need for guidelines that can facilitate continuity and consistency in meeting planning and allow for transparency and accountability of the decisions that are made. Between January and April 2021, the ICANN org Meetings and Policy Development Support teams worked with the Supporting Organization (SO and Advisory Committee (AC) chairs to develop and finalize the guidelines. As ICANN community needs and priorities change and as we look toward an eventual return to in-person ICANN Public Meetings while continuing to enhance ICANN org support for remote participation, we will work with the SO and AC chairs to ensure that the guidelines also evolve to meet those changing needs and priorities. REMINDER: Call for Expressions of Interest: Chair of the EPDP on IDNs The Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council announced that it is seeking Expressions of Interest for a chair of the Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP) team that will address issues related to Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs). Candidates interested in serving in this role should review the Expression of Interest document before submission. The document details the role, required skills and experience, and the selection process. The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest is Friday, 25 June 2021 at 23:59 UTC. In the event that more than 66% of the votes received at the end of the voting period shall be in favor of the Council Recommendation, then the recommendation shall be conveyed to the Board in accordance with Item 14 below as the ccNSO Recommendation.” About ccPDP3-Retirement In February 2021 the ccNSO Working Group on the Retirement of country code Top-Level Domains (ccPDP3-RET [ccnso.icann.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/ccnso.icann.org/en/workinggroups/pdp-ret…>) concluded its work by unanimously supporting the policy recommendations pertaining to the retirement of ccTLDs. This policy development effort was originally part of the third ccNSO Policy Development Process, which was initiated in 2017 to develop policy recommendations on the Retirement of ccTLDs (Part 1) and to develop policy recommendations for a Review Mechanism for decisions pertaining to the delegation, transfer, revocation and retirement of ccTLDs (Part 2). To expedite the ccNSO decision-making on the proposed recommended policy for the Retirement of ccTLDs, the ccNSO Council is expected to decide by 4 June 2021 (noon UTC) to separate Part 1 (on the Retirement of ccTLDs) and Part 2 (on Review Mechanism). This decision is taken after an extensive community consultation. During ICANN71, at the 17 June Council meeting, the ccNSO Council is expected to discuss and vote upon the proposed policy on the retirement of ccTLDs, as developed by the ccPDP3 Retirement WG. If approved, the recommendation will be put forth to the ccNSO members to vote on. The voting by the ccNSO members is expected to start on Wednesday, 7 July 2021 (00:01 UTC) and closes on Wednesday, 28 July 2021 (23:59 UTC). CSC members will be selected based on how well they meet the following set of skills and experience: * Direct experience and knowledge of the IANA naming function * Analytical skills, ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative evidence, and capacity to draw conclusions purely based on evidence. * Experience in managing and/or participating in committees (e.g. meeting coordination, reporting, and escalation) in order to contribute meaningfully to CSC processes * Demonstrated ability in relationship management to support diplomatic discussion, consensus driven decision making, and productive negotiation * Excellent communication skills in order to represent ccTLD interests and to keep the ccNSO and broader ccTLD community informed on progress * Ability to work and communicate in written and spoken English. Further a candidate: * Should commit to actively participate in the activities of the CSC on an on-going basis * Should be employed or have active backing by a ccTLD manager and should demonstrate the support by the ccTLD manager in respect to the required time commitment to participate actively in the CSC. In addition, and in accordance with the charter of the CSC, only if a candidate is considered to meet the above criteria the following diversity criteria should be taken into account: * Geographic regions; * Gender diversity; * Type, experience and size of ccTLD manager. Announcement: Final report on the retirement of ccTLDs

Dear all, Following the ccNSO Council decision to separate of Part 1 (Retirement of ccTLDs) and Part 2 (Review Mechanism), and each part to continue according to its own timeline, the Issue Manager has submitted the Final Report on the retirement of ccTLDs to the Chair of the ccNSO Council. The ccNSO Council is expected to consider and decide on the proposed policy for the retirement of ccTLDs at its upcoming meeting during ICANN71 on Thursday 17 June 2021. Dear Alejandra, I am pleased that in accordance with section Annex B, 9 c of the ICANN Bylaws, I - in my capacity as Issue Manager of ccPDP3 Retirement - can submit to you the Final Report on the development of a policy with respect to the retirement of ccTLDs for consideration and adoption by the ccNSO Council at its upcoming meeting, 17 June 2021. The policy as developed by the working is included in the Annex A of this Report (the Final Paper of the working group) section 1 through 5.
