The overarching purpose is to raise understanding and awareness of the issues pertaining to DNS Abuse, promote open and constructive dialogue, and ultimately to assist ccTLD Managers in their efforts to mitigate the impact of DNS Abuse. DASC LIBRARY | The DASC has created a library to share DNS Abuse-relevant information. The DNS abuse library<https://community.icann.org/x/Ege7Cg> includes links to tools, articles, reports and more. You can do both searches and suggestions for content in the library. We invite you to have a look. DASC EMAIL LIST | Committee has launched a DNS abuse discussion email list<https://community.icann.org/x/BJJME>, open to all persons associated with a ccTLD with an interest in DNS abuse. The list will be used to regularly inform you about new additions to the library, discussions, and relevant upcoming events for ccTLDs. DASC SURVEY | The DASC launched the first edition of the survey at the end of 2022, when ccTLDs from different regions, with different registration and governance models, responded to the survey. Respondents included both bigger and smaller organisations, both in terms of domain names under management and staff. It is worth noting that most respondents reported less than 0.1% of their names under management being affected by DNS Abuse. Finally, the survey results revealed that even ccTLDs with limited resources - including funding and staff – can effectively mitigate DNS abuse, with the help of DNS abuse policies and procedures and monitoring tools. The DASC survey provided rich results, and key findings were shared at ICANN76, ICANN77 and finally during a webinar in September 2023. DASC shared insights into what respondents consider to be actionable types of DNS Abuse, and which type of mitigation methods respondents use. Overall, the DASC survey provided valuable insights into the current state of DNS abuse mitigation among ccTLD registries, and identified several areas for improvement, including collaboration, effective use of DNS reporting tools, resource allocation, and education to effective DNS abuse mitigation. Heads up: Call for Nominations for one Director to the ICANN Board (Seat 12) starting soon

Following the resignation of Katrina Sataki from the ICANN Board effective 23 August 2024, the Empowered Community and ccNSO Council have been formally invited to fill the vacancy: 1. For the remainder of Katrina's term until the 2024 ICANN Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November. 2. For a 3-year term beginning at the 2024 ICANN AGM and ending at the 2027 AGM. The ccNSO Council has appointed a Nomination Process Manager and adopted a timeline for this process, which follows the requirements of Section 10.3 (i) of the ICANN Bylaws<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article10>, the ccNSO Internal Rules<https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/internal-members…>, and the applicable ccNSO Guideline<https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/ccnso-nomination…>. The ccNSO Council will open a call for nominations to fill ICANN Board seat number 12, beginning on Tuesday 10 September 2024 (00:01 UTC) and ending three weeks later, on Tuesday 27 September 2024 (23:59 UTC). The deadline for accepting nominations is Friday, 4 October 2024 (23:59 UTC). The election will take place in February 2025, following the completion of due diligence on the nominee(s) by a professional firm. A virtual question and answer session with the candidate(s) will be held in late January. The ICANN Bylaws specify the requirements for suitably qualified candidates, including details regarding citizenship or domicile [Section 7.2(c)<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article7>]. Patricio Poblete, who occupies Board Seat 11, is domiciled in Chile, Latin America/Caribbean-region. Candidates do not need to be employed by a ccTLD in order to be nominated, but if there is an employment or other relationship, this should be disclosed by the candidate as part of their Candidate Statement. Dear all, As follow-up from my email from 27 August, please find included the draft resolution on adoption of the timeline for the nomination of an individual to fill Board Seat 12, following the resignation of the Katrina Sataki as Board member. In addition and in accordance with relevant Guideline, the Board is requested to appoint Joke Braeken (ccNSO secretariat) as Nomination Process Manager. The voting is open until Tuesday 3 September 2024. Please be so kind to vote using the Council email list. If you any questions, want to raise a concern or object please use the email list as well. Thank and kind regards, Bart Draft Resolution Background Following the resignation of Katrina SAtaki as Board member per 23 August 2024, the ccNSO was formally requested to initiate the process to fill the vacancy of Board Seat 12: 1. For the remainder of Katrina’s term until the 2024 AGM (November 2024) 2. For the 3-year term starting at ICANN’s AGM in November 2024 up and until the AGM in 2027. The proposed timeline reads as follows: * Announcement Timeline to community - 4 September * Call for Nominations : 10 September – 27 September + acceptance nomination by candidate(s) – closing date 4 October 2024 * Due Diligence/Background check 8 October – 6 December ( with possible extension, depending on availability/accessibility background) * Q&A Candidate statement (Webinar) in week 22 – 28 January * Voting: 4 -18 February * Council Nomination February or March Council meeting * Designation by ECA A more detailed view of the timeline is included in the background paper circulated to the Council on 27 August. According to the applicable Guideline the ccNSO Council also has to appoint a Nomination Process Manager, whose responsibilities are detailed in the aforementioned Guideline. The Council is suggested to appoint Joke Braeken, member of the secretariat as the Nomination Process Manager. Decision The ccNSO Council adopts the proposed timeline for the 2024 Board Seat 12 Nomination Process, and requests the secretariat to publish the Timeline as soon as possible to inform the community accordingly of the upcoming Board Seat 12 Nomination process. The ccNSO Council appoints Joke Braeken, ccNSO Secretariat, as the Nomination Process Manager. The Chair of the ccNSO is requested to inform John Jeffrey, ICANN General Counsel and Secretary, of this Resolution, after it is has become effective. This resolution becomes effective upon publication.
