Adoption Outline ccNSO Policy Implementation Assistance process Both Council and ccNSO membership were consulted. No comments from membership were received. Draft Resolution Background - The GRC has developed an outline for interaction with ICANN on Implementation of ccNSO developed policies. The initial outline was reviewed by some members of staff with experience in implementation of policies developed by the community and following this review the GRC updated the draft. The GRC sought feed-back from Council on proposed outline and after consolidating comments from Councillors feed-back was sought from the ccNSO membership and no comments were received. The GRC Outline ccNSO Policy Implementation Process was submitted to Council on 15 September 2023. Decision - The ccNSO Council adopted the proposed Outline ccNSO Policy Implementation Process - submitted on 15 September 2023, and requests the secretariat to publish the Outline on the appropriate ccNSO Webpage as soon as possible. The secretariat is requested to inform the various ICANN departments, which may become involved in implementation of a ccNSO developed policy, of the Guideline. The Council thanks the GRC and relevant ICANN staff for their diligent work on the Outline and the secretariat is requested to inform the GRC and ICANN staff of the result and thank them for their contributions. Finally, the secretariat is requested to publish this resolution as soon as possible. This resolution becomes effective 7 days after publication. 1. REMINDERS: * The Country Code Name Supporting Organization was created 20 years ago. During ICANN77, members of the ccTLD community shared videos reflecting on the evolution and major milestones in the history of the ccNSO. The DNSSEC Roadshows project, an effort of the Coalition for Digital Africa, provides a unique opportunity for African ccTLD operators to be supported in their journey to DNSSEC implementation and promotion. The project provides technical training and support to ccTLD operators interested in deploying DNSSEC as part of their commitment to contribute to a globally secured DNS infrastructure and a safe online environment. The goal of this project is to promote the adoption and implementation of DNSSEC protocols to improve the security of African country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). The roadshows are intended to provide ccTLD operators with the tools and expertise they need to protect their infrastructure, maintain user trust, and improve overall Internet security. ICANN is dedicated to creating a safe and resilient Internet ecosystem. Improving DNSSEC adoption has long been a priority for ICANN in Africa. We understand the value of DNSSEC in bolstering trust and confidence in online transactions. In Africa, where the digital economy is quickly expanding, supporting DNSSEC adoption and deployment is critical. The DNSSEC Roadshows project provides a unique opportunity for African ccTLD operators to be supported in their journey to DNSSEC implementation and promotion. The project provides technical training and support to ccTLD operators interested in deploying DNSSEC as part of their commitment to contribute to a globally secured DNS infrastructure and a safe online environment. ccTLD operators that wish to participate in the DNSSEC Roadshows project are requested to submit their application by 23:59 UTC on 30 September 2023. The project will select up to 13 ccTLD operators to participate in the DNSSEC Roadshows project. Seven openings are available for fiscal year 2024 (July 2023 – June 2024). The Board Strategic Planning Committee (BSPC) leads the strategic planning process on behalf of the Board, and ICANN org works closely with the BSPC and the Board to support this work. The outcome of this process will be a new five-year strategic plan. This is the beginning of an exciting phase for ICANN. This new plan is not only required by ICANN's Bylaws, it also represents a significant step in shaping ICANN's path to a successful future, and strengthening the multistakeholder model to ensure the secure, stable, and resilient operation of the Internet's unique identifier systems. A well-defined strategy is essential to effectively identify and navigate the challenges that may come our way, and capitalize on opportunities. Strategic planning isn't simply about goal-setting, it's also about involving all relevant stakeholders and creating a roadmap that guides us toward our mission together. The strategic planning process will begin with a series of environmental scan sessions starting in September. These sessions allow us to build a comprehensive overview of where we are today, and how our environment will impact the next five years of our journey. Through the process, we will analyze our strengths and weaknesses, evaluate opportunities, and anticipate threats. The participation of the ICANN community, Board and organization, as well as others in the Internet ecosystem, is critical. The best strategies are born from diverse minds, and therefore our goal is to ensure we involve a variety of voices and perspectives from within and beyond the ICANN's multistakeholder community.
