ICANN Fellowship Application Round Opens for ICANN 52 in Marrakech

Dear all, ICANN's Fellowship programme is now opening for applications to the Marrakech meeting 8 - 12 February 2015: https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2-2014-08-08-en Please, note that CANN's Fellowship Programme differs from the ccNSO Travel Funding Programme. Whilst the ccNSO Travel Funding Scheme is mainly for ccTLD operators, the Fellowship Programme is aiming to increase attendance at ICANN meetings by all stakeholders, not just ccTLD operators. The main restriction for the Fellowship Programme is that applicants must be citizens of eligible countries, determined by economic ranking. Fellowships are awarded by an independent selection committee based on a mix of criteria including applicant experience and references, geographic proximity to meeting, receipt of past fellowships, etc. The last day to apply for ICANN Fellowship funding is 19 September. The application period for ccNSO Travel funding will open later this year. Kind regards, Gabi

ICG Draft Charter for public comment

Dear all, The IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group (ICG) has produced a draft charter (https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/draft-charter-coordination-grou p-17jun14-en.pdf) that defines its own tasks. The ICG is opening up a short public comment period on the charter to determine if there are any major objections to the current draft that the ICG has not already taken into account. Maximal Starting Repertoire (MSR) information for ccTLDs

Dear all, ICANN's IDN team would like to increase awareness of the "Maximal Starting Repertoire" (MSR) among ccTLDs and has asked me to communicate following message to the ccTLD community: ICANN is calling for volunteers to serve on one of several panels that will define the rules for generating new top-level domain labels for the script or writing systems for their community. The goal of these panels is to support the use of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) by determining what is a valid top-level domain label in each script or writing system. Join a Generation Panel today by emailing idntlds(a)icann.org. Make sure to tell us the language you speak and the script or writing system you want to get involved with.
