Dear all, On behalf of Byron Holland, chair of the Strategic and Operational Planning Working Group (SOP WG), I am pleased to refer you to the report the SOP WG has produced to assist you in providing feed-back and input on ICANN's draft Strategic Plan 2010-2013. The SOP WG was tasked to solicit the ccTLD community's feedback on ICANN's draft Strategic Plan for 2010-2013. In order to facilitate and increase involvement in ICANN's Strategic Planning process, the SOP WG has produced a report which provides additional comment on the strategic plan with regard to the perceived top five priorities identified. The SOP WG report is included but can also be viewed at http://www.ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/sopiwg.htm, under SOP WG Strategic plan review. In October 2009, a survey was conducted among ccTLD managers to gain insights from and measure attitudes pertaining to the strategic priorities developed within the ICANN community for the 2009-2012 planning period. The following five priorities were perceived by the ccTLD community to be the most important: 1. Enhance security, stability and resiliency in the allocation and assignment of the Internet's unique identifiers 2. Implement IDN's 3. Ensure financial accountability, stability and responsibility 4. Strengthen ICANN's multi-stakeholder model to manage increasing demand and changing needs 5. Strive for excellence in core operations Please participate and share your comments on the draft Plan. Gabi =================================== Dear Councilors: 1) In a December 3rd "Statement of the At-Large Advisory Committee" on the "Draft Topic Paper for Policy on the Introduction of IDN ccTLD", ALAC thanked ccNSO for giving the public the opportunity to provide feedback to its considerations, and proposed seven questions for ccNSO IDN PDP WG1 consideration. [see attached .PDF file -- AL-ALAC-ST-1209] 2) On December 14th European Union and its Member States ratified the WIPO Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. [see attached Word Document -- WIPO Copyright Treaty] 3) On December 19th ALAC offered comments on the "Three Character Requirement" and Variant Management" for IDN TLD implementation. [See attached Word Document -- ALAC Comments on IDN TLD implementation] Outstanding Item from November 20th Liaison report: 4) At Seoul during a discussion about an ALAC / ccNSO joint outreach program, the possibility was discussed of a survey asking ccTLDs if they are currently involved in any outreach project in general that involves public education about ICANN and ccTLDs, and any relationship with an accredited ALS in particular. a) Is there an objection by Council to the ALAC / ccNSO joint outreach WG devising a simple survey about outreach? b) Is there an imminent survey of any kind anticipated, that would be suitable for two or three additional questions related to an outreach project?
