Dear ccNSO members, Mike Silber's term on the ICANN Board Seat 12 will expire at the ICANN Annual General Meeting 2015. The ccNSO is now opening a call for nominations to fill ICANN Board seat number 12. Below you will find all details of the procedure for nominations and for seconding nominations. Nominations can be made from the 12 September 2014, 00.00 UTC until 3 October 2014, 23.59 UTC. Nominations can only be submitted at ccnso-boardnominations(a)icann.org and will require verification. Templates for nominating and seconding nominations are provided. Please use these templates. You can also find all this information at: http://ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-12sep14-en.htm The names of the nominees will be made public at http://forum.icann.org/lists/ccnso-boardnominations The nomination process is outlined below and is also available at http://ccnso.icann.org/announcements/announcement-12sep14-en.htm Kind regards, Gabi Call for Nominations for a Director to the Board of ICANN Date: 12 September 2014 The term of the ICANN Board seat number 12 expires at the ICANN AGM 2015 and a nomination process therefore needs to be launched. Should there be more than one candidate nominated for seat number 12, an election will be held. Bylaw Article IX section 3.9 <http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm#IX> states: "The ccNSO Council shall make selections to fill Seats 11 and 12 on the Board by written ballot or by action at a meeting; any such selection must have affirmative votes of a majority of all the members of the ccNSO Council then in office. Notification of the ccNSO Council's selections shall be given by the ccNSO Council Chair in writing to the ICANN Secretary, consistent with Article VI, Sections 8(4) <http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm#VI-8.4> and 12(1) <http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm#VI-12.1> ." The ccNSO Council and the ccNSO members have decided that before making the nomination of Directors, the ccNSO members shall be entitled to nominate and vote for candidates they wish the Council to nominate to the ICANN Board. Section 2(3) of Article VI of the Bylaws states "In carrying out their responsibilities to fill Seats 9 through 14, the Supporting Organizations shall seek to ensure that the ICANN Board is composed of members that in the aggregate display diversity in geography, culture, skills, experience, and perspective, by applying the criteria set forth in Section 3 <http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm#VI-3> of this Article. At any given time, no two Directors selected by a Supporting Organization shall be citizens of the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region." Pursuant to this Bylaw, the candidate that receives the highest number of votes from ccNSO members will be nominated by the Council to the ICANN Board. Each member can nominate one candidate for seat 12 on the ICANN Board and each member can second one candidate. In order to nominate or second a candidate, a member must be a member of the ccNSO by 12 September 2014. Nominations can be made from the 12 September 2014, 00.00 UTC until 3 October 2014, 23.59 UTC. Dear all, Updated - IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group Issues Request for Transition Proposals and Suggested Transition Process Timeline: https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2014-09-09-en IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group Issues Request for Transition Proposals and Suggested Transition Process Timeline The IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group (ICG) is pleased to announce the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP), for communities interested in and/or affected by the transition of IANA stewardship from the United States NTIA to the global multistakeholder Internet community. The RFP is available on the ICG website at: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/rfp-iana-stewardship-08sep14-en. pdf Should any community submitting a proposal require clarifications to the RFP, these should be submitted to the ICG on or before Wednesday, 24 September 2014. Submissions should be sent by email to stewardship-rfp-questions(a)icann.org before this date, and responses will be provided by the ICG by 20 October 2014. Clarification questions will be posted to the public ICG mailing list. We expect communities to be able to begin work immediately on their proposals, in light of the aggressive timetable for this work. The communities should submit their proposals to the ICG before or on 15 January 2015. Proposals should be conveyed to the ICG via email to icg-proposal(a)icann.org. The ICG has also released a suggested timeline for the transition process: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/icg-process-timeline-08sep14-en. pdf While this timeline is aggressive, every attempt has been made to be flexible and allow all communities to participate effectively.
