Upcoming call for Expression of Interest member of the CSC

Dear all, I am mailing you to alert you that the ccNSO Council will be seeking a volunteer to be a member on the Customer Standing Committee (CSC). The call for volunteers will start next week 15 August and close on 29 August 2019 at 23.59. The CSC has been established to ensure the satisfactory performance of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) naming function. The CSC monitors PTI’s performance of the IANA naming function by analyzing performance reports on a monthly basis and publishing its findings. It is authorized to undertake remedial action to address poor performance, and if performance issues are not remedied, the CSC is authorized to escalate the performance issues to the ccNSO and GNSO for consideration. Additionally, the CSC may recommend changes to the naming Service Level Expectations as well as enhancements to the provision of the IANA naming services. If you are interested, the CSC meets once every month and as member the expected time commitment is around 4-6 hours per month. Identify current challenges facing the ccNSO through a request to Council members. We can also take some challenges from the recent Review. 2. Create a Panel made up of council members from each region and a moderator who will then field questions based on the issues that have been identified. Each Councillor on the panel can give an opinion on how the challenge can be resolved by adding some best practice from his or her region. 3. The moderator then invites Council members that are not on the panel to ask questions, challenge some of the ideas presented by the panelists or share additional thoughts that will solve the issues raised. Barrack, 1) you do not need to appologise for being a non-native English speaker – the world consisting only of native speakers would be a very boring one :) 2) I am not a native English speaker either – that could be the reason why I need a more detailed explanation. Therefore, I am going back to my question: could you please describe your idea in more detail? I did not understand, for example, what do you mean by panel or “select a panel”? The idea of discussing issues regionally, could provide an interesting twist but I would like to know why you think this is the way? Council workshop in Montreal

Dear Councillors, As you probably remember, in Kobe we agreed that we need more Council workshops. Unfortunately, we could not make it in Marrakech but we will definitely do that in Montreal. Currently, we have booked three 90 minute blocks on Sunday (starting at 9 am). Two blocks for the workshop and one block for our prep-meeting. However, booking slots is the easiest part. We need to fill them up with meaningful, useful, and interesting activities. If we can't think of enough of such kind of activities, we can always go for one block of workshop instead of two (we will have a prep-meeting in any case). If we have interesting ideas, we will need to plan and prepare them to make the most out of our team efforts. To make a long story short, now is the time to propose ideas for our workshop in Montreal! To kick start the brainstorming: - How to help new people to get engaged? Dear all, As friendly reminder: If you have any objections/concerns about proposed re-launch and timing please reply to the list as soon as possible ( but before 7 August 2019, 23.59 UTC) Kind regards, BArt From: Bart Boswinkel <bart.boswinkel(a)icann.org> Date: Wednesday, 31 July 2019 at 14:46 To: "ccNSO-Council(a)icann.org" <ccnso-council(a)icann.org> Subject: For Decision: New Timeline and re-launch call for expression Interest CSC member Dear all, As you may have noted, to date the secretariat has not received a responde to the call for expression of interest as member of the CSC (see announcement: https://ccnso.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-10jul9-en.htm) To meet the deadline of 1 October when the term of Byron ends, the secretariat therefore suggests to: Inform the community that call for expression will be re-launched (Information to go out on 8 August 2019 to the members, ccTLD Community and ccTLD World email list and with announcement on the ccNSO website) Re-launch the call for a volunteer by 15 August and until Thursday 29 August 2019. Councillors are expected to select their preferred candidate in the week from Friday 30 August until Thursday 5 September 2019. The ccNSO Council and RySG are to confirm their candidates by 10 September 2019. Note the ccNSO Council has already mandated the selection committee, and this can be done by email. the ccNSO and GNSO Council are expected to confirm the full slate by 15 September ( the original end-date), Approval and discussion of the selection report at the 19 September 2019 Council meeting.
