Dear Colleagues, This is a friendly reminder that we need to come up with a topic for discussion with the Board during our bilateral meeting. Please note, we do not need to come up with questions - the Board asked us to choose one topic we could discuss half of the time. For the other half, the Board has chosen the following topic: * Enhancing the effectiveness of the Multistakeholder model: key issues and opportunities for acceleration. In your preparation you may want to consider the results of the most recent public consultation, and work that has progressed with dependencies to enhancing the effectiveness of the MSM (such as the ATRT3 report and work on prioritization and budgeting). REMINDER: Your videos/pirctures required!

Dear Colleagues! So far we have only one brave Councillor! Ajay is the only one who has sent his video. Please (please, please!) do not be too shy! Make a video recording and send it to me or Kim. Now we have instructions from the organisers to make things easier for you: Our Hamburg event is coming up, and in preparation we'd like to ask you to provide us with a short video clip starring... yourself. How Record yourself using you smartphone (video + audio!) You do not have to edit your recording, just send the raw material and we will edit it into the show layout. What (1) Look into the camera, say hi and tell us your name & country you're joining us from (2) Strike a pose (Think "The game is on!" whilst you do it :-) (3) Show us one cool dance move When Please send this recording by Monday 12th. Some tips * Use the highest recording setting on your camera (HD of 4K if possible) * Put the camera in a stable spot, and try to have it at the same height as your eyes (you will look better J) Lighting: * Make sure we can clearly see your face * Do not stand with your back to the window (the background will be too bright) * Do not shine a light directly on your face, there will be too many shadows. Instead, stand facing a window (ideally, with a white curtain to make the light softer), or shine the light on a white wall or ceiling. * If you see a lot of 'grain' or 'noise' in the image, you need more light overall. Audio: * Do not stand too far from your camera * Make a test recording and listen to it. * If there is too much noise, echo, or if you sound as if talking from far away: Use earphones with an inline microphone (the kind you get with the smartphone to make calls with) Image: * Film in horizontal landscape mode if possible * Try to avoid using the front facing camera (only possible if you have somebody to help you with the recording of course) * Do not use the digital zoom of your camera (move the camera to make yourself bigger/smaller, do not use pinch-to-zoom) When you are speaking, look to the camera lens (not to the phone/screen). Take your time, remember to smile, and have fun! ICANN org is sending a survey to our Supporting Organization (SO) and Advisory Committee (AC) chairs to spark a discussion within each group, as this discussion belongs to the community. REMINDER: Nominations for NextGen Selection Committee and Mentor Positions Now Open From: Sally Costerton, Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President, Global Stakeholder Engagement The ICANN org NextGen Program announced that it is seeking nominations for mentors and for the NextGen selection committee. Communities may choose to appoint program alumni and are encouraged to appoint active community members who have an interest in mentoring students. There are three slots available for mentors, and five slots for selection committee members. Each SO/AC is asked to nominate candidates for both positions. Individual self-nominations will not be considered. Interested community groups should select their respective NextGen@ICANN volunteers by 15 October and notify Deborah Escalera at nextgen(a)icann.org. The UASG is pleased to inform you about the publication of the UA Readiness Report FY20 – UASG029 (Annual Report<https://uasg.tech/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/UASG-FY20-Readiness-Report-202…>). Background Universal Acceptance is the concept that all domain names and email addresses should be treated equally. The Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) is a community-based group dedicated to promoting UA with the support of the ICANN organization. It undertakes gap analysis of standards, technology, services, and applications to determine the state of practice of UA. It also raises awareness, conducts training, and supports remediation of technology applications and services to achieve UA-readiness. This report captures a summary of scope of UA, documents the current gaps in technology related to UA-readiness to-date, and provides an update on the activities undertaken by the UASG in FY20 (July 2019 – June 2020).
