It consists of eight sessions to prepare the ICANN community for the ICANN75 Annual General Meeting taking place 17-22 September 2022. REMINDER: ICANN Continues the Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program ICANN announced the continuation of the Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program for ICANN75. The hybrid ICANN75 Annual General Meeting is being held 17–22 September 2022. The deadline for reimbursement program applications is 2 September 2022. Interested ICANN community members must apply in advance of ICANN75, and those who meet the eligibility requirements will be selected to participate. The application process opens Monday, 08 August 2022. The application deadline is Friday, 02 September 2022 at 23:59 UTC. The goal of this program is to facilitate participation in ICANN Public Meetings during the pandemic. It offers community members who have limited Internet capacity financial assistance to increase their Internet bandwidth. Since ICANN75 will be conducted as a hybrid meeting, only applicants that attend virtually are eligible for this program. Apply here. Read more. REMINDER: Registration for ICANN75 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is Now Open ICANN announced that the dedicated website for the ICANN75 Annual General Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is live and registration for the meeting is open. All participants must be pre-registered by 14 September 2022 to attend the meeting in person. Read more. REMINDER: Implementation Operations Team Offers Interactive Update on the "Enhancing ICANN’s Multistakeholder Model" Project In 2019, the ICANN Board initiated a project aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of ICANN's multistakeholder model – one of the strategic objectives outlined in ICANN's Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years (FY) 2021-2025. This effort is critical to ensuring that the multistakeholder model evolves and meets the changing needs of the ICANN community. The Implementation Operations team is offering an up to 30 minute interactive update on this project, more specifically on the evaluation methodology, which is used to assess the current projects/initiatives that are supporting the multistakeholder model. Information Sharing New: How ICANN Supports Community Discourse via Domain Name Marketplace Indicators ICANN recently released updated industry metrics as part of its Domain Name Marketplace Indicators initiative. This information, which is available via ICANN's Open Data platform, includes statistics related to generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). One of the objectives of this initiative is to provide the Internet community with an unbiased source of internal indicators to track the evolution of the Domain Name System (DNS) industry. Read more. NEW: Share Your Feedback on the Registration Data Policy Implementation Plan Today, ICANN Org opened a Public Comment proceeding on a proposed Registration Data Policy Implementation Plan. This plan is the result of three years of work and collaboration including ICANN Org's Policy Implementation Project Team (IPT) and the Community's Implementation Review Team (IRT). The implementation plan includes a draft policy and proposed updates to 20 existing consensus policies and procedures impacted by the Community's recommendations concerning generic top-level domain (gTLD) registration data. The opening of this Public Comment is a tremendous achievement and a true testament to the multistakeholder model at work. Read more. NEW: Work Stream 2 Implementation Update Implementation of Work Stream 2 (WS2) of the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-ACCT) continues to be a priority for the ICANN organization (org) in Fiscal Year 23. Work continues on the 95 accountability and transparency-related recommendations directed at ICANN org, the Board, and the community. The ICANN org continues to support community groups' implementation work, as appropriate, and discussions of the WS2 Community Coordination Group (WS2 CCG), as it coordinates work on a set of recommendations that warrant a uniform community-wide approach. NEW: ICANN Publishes Updated Domain Name Marketplace Indicators The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced the release of updated industry metrics, accessible via the ICANN Open Data platform, as part of its Domain Name Marketplace Indicators initiative. The initiative presents statistics related to generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) with the aim of fostering greater transparency for reputable information on the evolution of the domain name marketplace. CLOSES TODAY: A Request for Planning Prioritization Group FY24 Nominations The updated Planning Prioritization Framework (Version 2) has been published on the ICANN Finance and Planning Community wiki workspace here (Planning Prioritization Framework V2). We would like to hold meetings with the community-based Planning Prioritization Group in September and early October 2022. This timing will permit ICANN org to receive input for the development of the Draft Operating Plan and Budget which is scheduled for Public Comment in December 2022. The prioritization process is a step in the annual ICANN planning process. The scope of activities to be included in this prioritization process are Board-approved implementation work such as PDP recommendations, Specific Review recommendations and the implementation of other non-policy and advice work. As the FY24 Planning Prioritization Group will comprise members from the same community groups that participated in the pilot, we ask that the relevant groups please either re-confirm that the member(s) from your group are available to continue their participation. REMINDER: ICANN Request for Proposal (RFP): PTI SOC2 & SOC3 Audits The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organization is soliciting proposals to identify a provider to conduct service organization control audits. These audits represent an important component of the accountability ICANN has to Internet stakeholders for the proper performance of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority ("IANA") functions. The audits are mandated by the various contracts between ICANN and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the Regional Internet Registries (RIR) and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI). Indications of interest should be emailed to PTI.SOC2.SOC3.Audits-RFP(a)icann.org. Proposals should be electronically submitted using ICANN's sourcing tool by 23:59 UTC on 20 September 2022. REMINDER: NextGen@ICANN Mentor Program Nominations The NextGen@ICANN Program seeks nominations for the 2023 Mentor Program. This appointment will serve for the ICANN76-78 meetings. Nominations must be submitted no later than Tuesday 31 August 2022. The community-nominated mentor will be responsible for overseeing the mentor process. Communities may choose to appoint program alumni and are encouraged to appoint active community members who have an interest in mentoring students. Guidelines for the program can be found here. ICANN wants to hear from university students living and studying in the Latin America and Caribbean region who are interested in the future of the Internet and in participating in the ICANN76 Community Forum Meeting. ICANN76 is scheduled to be held in Cancún, Mexico from 11–16 March 2023. If ICANN76 is held virtually, the NextGen@ICANN program will also be held virtually.
