Dear All, ICANN opened the nomination<https://forms.gle/o6NVV8jHVttU15DZ7> period for the ICANN Community Excellence Award. This nomination period will close on 21 March 2022 at 23:59 UTC. Read the announcement here: https://www.icann.org/en/announcements/details/nomination-period-opens-for-… Launched in 2014, the ICANN Community Excellence Award recognizes the ICANN community members who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions and contributed substantively to the ICANN multistakeholder model. The ideal recipient(s) will have: * Participated in the ICANN community for at least five years * Served in multiple ICANN working groups or committees * Collaborated with more than one Supporting Organization (SO) or Advisory Committee (AC) in a significant capacity Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of ICANN community members appointed by the SO/AC chairs. This panel will evaluate candidates using a merit-based point system and the following criteria: * Demonstrated ability to work across community lines with both familiar and unfamiliar ICANN stakeholders to build consensus * Facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair and collegial manner, in a spirit of collaboration shown through empathy, and a sincere desire to engage with people from other backgrounds, cultures, and interests * Demonstrated additional support for the ICANN multistakeholder model and its overall effectiveness through volunteer service via working groups or committees Please submit your nominations using this Nomination Form<https://forms.gle/o6NVV8jHVttU15DZ7> and include detailed information outlining why the nominee meets the award criteria. Conclusion nominations : Special ccNSO Council Elections – European region

Dear ccNSO members, This is to inform you that - in accordance with the approved timeline - the nomination period for the Special ccNSO Council Elections – European region closed on Thursday, 2 December 2021 (23:59 UTC). One candidate was nominated, seconded, and has accepted his nomination for the ccNSO council election, as per the applicable rules. The candidate is Chris Disspain. The nomination archives can be found here<https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/ccnso-nominations/>. Next steps A Councillor can be any individual nominated, seconded and elected as described in the ccNSO Council Election Guideline<https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/guideline-ccnso-…>. As only one candidate was nominated and seconded within the nomination period, no elections need to be held in the European region. Since at the close of nominations there are no more valid candidates in the aforementioned geographic region than there are seats on the ccNSO Council available for this region, the nominated candidate shall be selected to serve on the ccNSO Council. The Election Manager will prepare the Election Report for the Special ccNSO Council Elections – European region for consideration by the ccNSO Council. The process will formally close 7 days after adoption and publication of the Election Report. Background Giovanni Seppia has indicated he will step down from the ccNSO Council on 31 December 2021. In accordance with section 10.4(g) of the ICANN Bylaws, the ccNSO members in the European Region will need to select a candidate for the remainder of Giovanni's term (until March 2023). The person selected for the special Council election will take the seat on the Council on 1 January 2022, latest after formal completion of the selection process. The ccNSO opened a call for nominations to fill the seat: the nomination and secondment procedure started Thursday, 18 November 2021 (00:01 UTC) and closed Thursday, 2 December 2021 (23:59 UTC). The ccNSO Council<https://ccnso.icann.org/about/council.htm> consists of 18 Councillors: 15 Councilors are elected by the ccNSO members within that ICANN Geographic Region. Individuals are elected in their personal capacity and serve the ccTLD community. There are 5 geographic regions, and 3 Councilors per region. For decision Launch call for volunteers: the ccNSO seeks two panelists for the ICANN Community Excellence Award Selection Panel Draft resolution THE CCNSO COUNCIL RESOLVES TO launch a call for volunteers, aimed at appointing 2 panelists for the ICANN Community Excellence Award Selection Panel. The ccNSO Council requests the Secretariat to publish the call for volunteers and start the procedure, based on Annex A to the ccNSO Guideline: ccNSO Collaboration Groups with a limited Scope. Background ICANN Community Excellence Award recognizes those ICANN participants who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions and in the importance of ICANN’s multistakeholder model to Internet governance. Fomerly known as Multistakeholder Ethos Award, this award was renamed ICANN Community Excellence Award in 2020. A panel of community members representing each SO/AC based on the award criteria selects recipients annually. There are up to two panelists per SO/AC. The panelists for the next selection round should be appointed by 24 January 2021.Panelists serve a maximum of 2 consecutive terms. The panel starts evaluation work around ICANN73. Thank you. Individuals are elected in their personal capacity and serve the ccTLD community. Councillors do not represent the views and interests of their employers. Candidates need to be neither resident in the region, nor a citizen of a country, within the region in which they stand for election. A valid candidate is one that has been nominated and seconded according to the ccNSO Council Election Guideline, and that has accepted the nomination. If there is more than one valid candidate in a Geographical Region, an election shall be conducted in that region. Voting will be by secret ballot: the ballot is identified only by a code and not by a name. Accepting nominations After closure of the nomination period, the Election Manager will ask the candidates that are nominated to accept their nomination. Self-nominations are understood to have accepted their nomination. The Election Manager will provide a list with the name(s) of the candidate(s) who have accepted their nomination. Otherwise, an election shall be held – according to the timeline previously agreed upon by the ccNSO Council – for that geographic region, to select the ccNSO Councillors from among the valid candidates.
