Please keep in mind that all materials, new or updated, must be evergreen. There is a maximum of two design iterations per publication. Translation-only Deadline For translation, please provide the final material(s) by Friday, 21 May 2021. This ensures that there is enough time to translate the publication. If the publication requires design assistance, please note that the final materials will have to be complete, including the edit/approval process, by this deadline in order to be translated. Please work directly with your support team to submit these requests to evin.erdogdu(a)icann.org and liana.teo(a)icann.org. NEW: Participate in "ICANN Community Groups: An Introduction for Newcomers" The Public Responsibility Support team seeks speakers from ICANN communities to participate in an introductory session for newcomers. Each speaker will have five minutes to provide an overview of their ICANN community group. The session will take place Wednesday, 2 June 2021, 13:00-14:30 UTC. Sign up by Monday, 24 May 2021. Please contact deborah.escalera(a)icann.org with any questions. NEW: ICANN Continues the Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program Interested ICANN community members must apply in advance of ICANN71, and those who meet the eligibility requirements will be selected to participate. The application deadline is Friday, 28 May 2021 at 23:59 UTC. The goal of this program is to facilitate participation in ICANN Public Meetings during this pandemic. It offers ICANN community members who have limited Internet capacity financial assistance to increase their Internet bandwidth. Dear John, As required under ICANN Bylaws 6.3 (a), I am pleased to inform you that in accordance with the Guideline: Appointment of the ccNSO Representative on the Empowered Community Administration*, the ccNSO Council has recently (30 April 2021) appointed me, replacing Stephen Deerhake, as the ccNSO representative to the Empowered Community Administration for a term of one year, concluding at the end of the ICANN73 meeting, at which time the ccNSO Council will again appoint a representative for one year period. Dear all, Please find included the draft resolution from last Council call on roles and responsibilities and overview of ccNSO Council appointed liaisons and others to other groups. Also included the overviews themselves ( in pdf) If you have any questions or comments please let your fellow Councillors know by Friday 30 April 2021, 23.59 UTC. If no comments or objection by then, the resolution is considered accepted. Once adopted the overviews will be posted on the ccNSO website. Kind regards, Bart Draft Resolution Background The ccNSO Councillors were requested to volunteer for and submit their names to take on a role and related responsibility as Committee member or other role. At the suggestion of the Chair the ccNSO Council also discussed the need to distinguish roles that Councillors play within and as part of the ccNSO Council and other roles as Councillors and community members to represent the ccNSO as liaison or in another representative capacity. Decision The ccNSO Council supports the refinement of the roles and responsibilities overview in the two proposed parts: · Part 1. Overview Roles and Responsibilities ccNSO Councillors roles and membership council related committees. · Part 2. Overview of appointments as external liaison or to external committees The ccNSO Council adopts both overview and requests the secretariat to publish this resolution as soon as possible and publish the aforementioned overviews. This resolution becomes effective seven (7) days after publication.

Draft resolution: actions to implement asap to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of the Council

Also included is a draft resolution, which was deferred from the meeting and now also includes the actions you suggested to implement as soon as possible. If you have any questions, comments or objection, please send them to the list by Friday 30 April 23.59 UTC. The draft resolution reads: Draft Resolution Background Following the March 2021 ccNSO Council Workshop and the Exercise during ccNSO Council meeting 172 to identify actions that would enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the ccNSO Council, the following actions were identified that should be implemented as soon as possible: * Virtual Coffee Breaks between Council meetings. * Focus on relation building when the f-2-f meetings or hybrid versions start again * Use various communication channels: * Council WhatsApp group chat (Council only, and a Councillor as Admin) * Council WhatsApp read-only Alert Channel (Council and Secretariat, Secretariat as Admin) To improve understanding of the impact and efforts required, additional discussion and planning will be needed in time around the following actions: * Mentoring. Mentoring new Councillors by more experienced Councillors * Develop & maintain a living document with topics of interest to Councillors The ccNSO Council is advised to discuss and assess the following possible actions as well, specifically in light of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the ccNSO Council: * Outreach to recent appointed NomCom Councillors * Increased collaboration with the Regional Organisations * Translation Decision The ccNSO Council request its Chair jointly with the Secretariat to implement the following actions as soon as possible: * Secretariat to organize Virtual Coffee Breaks between Council meetings. * When the f-2-f meetings or hybrid versions start again, focus on relation building * Use various communication channels in addition to the already existing methods of communication (email, zoom etc.): * Council WhatsApp group chat (Council only, and a Councillor as Admin) * Council WhatsApp read-only Alert Channel (Council and Secretariat, Secretariat as Admin) The Chair is also requested to schedule discussion of the other identified actions at a later workshop around ICANN72. Dear All, The SO/AC leaders kicked off the high-level planning for ICANN71. The ccNSO representatives on the ICANN71 planning committee seek your feedback regarding potential ICANN71 plenary sessions, addressing topics of higher interest to the broader ICANN community. Please answer the survey below, to help determine the ccNSO preference, and help the SO/AC planning team to finalize the plenary scheduling. https://www.surveymonkey.de/r/JNMG8RJ The survey closes on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 (14 UTC) Background Eight (8) potential plenary topics for ICANN71 were submitted for consideration, and the Governmental Regulatory Developments plenary topic was carried over from ICANN70. Topic proposers then consolidated topics, resulting in a proposal for three (3) merged plenary tracks, and one topic (Future of ICANN Meetings) to be held as a regular session.
