Request: Job Description NomCom appointee to the ccNSO Council

Dear Council, The ccNSO Secretariat has received the following request from NomCom staff support: “The 2021 Nominating Committee (NomCom) is planning to open this year’s NomCom application cycle mid-January 2021 and welcomes any updates to the ccNSO skill sets/criteria and job descriptions that the ccNSO may have. During this cycle, the NomCom will appoint one individual to the ccNSO Council. Question for you: Would it be possible to confirm if the ccNSO has a job description for the open ccNSO position? [NomCom] is working with Jean-Baptiste and Jennifer from the ICANN Review Support and Accountability team (also copied on this email). One of the recommendations from the NomCom RIWG Implementation Plan<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/nomcom-implementation-plan-15se…> is Recommendation 15: The NomCom should publish detailed job descriptions for Board, SO/AC, and PTI Board positions. The job descriptions, in combination with specific needed competencies identified each year by the NomCom, should form a basis for recruiting and evaluation efforts. Typically, every year the NomCom will request ccNSO to provide updates or changes to the selection criteria (as reference, here is guidance we have received last year from the ccNSO<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/ccnso-council-nomcom-appointee-…>. In addition, the NomCom website includes eligibility factors and time commitments (as reference, here is last year’s information on the NomCom website Time Commitment and Working Practice<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/nomcom2020-positions-2020-01-13-en#cc…>). There will be a total of seven mentors and seven Selection Committee members, and each group is welcome to nominate one individual for each role. Interested Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees should select their respective Fellowship Program mentor and Selection Committee representative by Sunday, 31 January 2021 and notify fellowshipconsultation(a)icann.org. REMINDER: Call for Expressions of Interest: Community Representatives Group to Select Independent Review Process (IRP) Standing Panel From: David Olive, Senior Vice President, Policy Development Support In accordance with the ICANN Bylaws and Terms of Reference agreed to by ICANN's Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees (SO and ACs), a Community Representatives Group is being formed that will work with ICANN org to select a slate of nominees for a Standing Panel to hear disputes filed under ICANN's Independent Review Process (IRP). All applications to join the Community Representatives Group will be reviewed by the specific SO or AC whose endorsement is being sought. The closing date is Friday, 4 December 2020. Dear All, The ccNSO seeks additional volunteers for the ccNSO Strategic and Operational Planning Standing Committee (SOPC). The SOPC is a key working group for the ccNSO, which has gained an important role by its regular input provided to ICANN's Strategic and Operational plans. and related budgetary processes of ICANN and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI). Membership of the Committee is open to all ccTLD managers (whether members or non-members of the ccNSO). Each year the members of the Committee will be asked whether they want to continue to serve thereon. SOPC members are expected to have the following skillset: * Availability and commitment to investing up to eight to ten days yearly. Please note that the work of the group (the workload) is not spread evenly throughout the year, but concentrates around the periods of public consultations of ICANN Operating Plan, Budget and Strategic Plans. * Knowledge of ICANN internal corporate and policy making processes, including the ccNSO work, and willingness to learn more about the subjects in the scope of the SOPC work and ICANN work. * Ability to work under time pressure and willingness to work at odd hours/ days. Please note that public comment periods may fall on a holiday season. The group encourages participation from all geographic regions, but realizes this implies that some members may need to participate at uncomfortable hours. * Good knowledge and record of dealing with strategic and budget planning matters. * Ability to review financial data sets and extensive background documents within tight deadlines. * Experience of (remote) working in teams and ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment. * Good communication skills and a sufficient command of English as the working language of the group, including familiarity with basic financial, corporate and strategic management lexicon and terminology. * Good presentation skills are desirable. Dear All, The ccNSO Council seeks a limited number of volunteers (max. five) for a drafting team for a ccNSO statement as a response to questions from ICANN legal regarding a Bylaw change to include IDN ccTLDs as members to the ccNSO. Volunteers from the ccNSO membership are expected to have drafting experience and/or subject-matter expertise. The ccNSO Council appointed Ai-Chin Lu (.tw) - ccNSO Councilor for the Asia-Pacific region - as designated Councilor to lead this effort. The drafting team will use the ccNSO Statement procedure as described in the applicable guideline.<https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/filefield_47783/guidelines-stat…> Next steps Once the call for volunteers closes, the ccNSO Council will appoint the drafting team. The team is expected to kick off its work from 7 December onwards. The team is expected to submit its draft statement to the ccNSO members for feedback and comments by mid January 2021. The ccNSO statement needs to be endorsed by the ccNSO members and Council. Background After having consulted the ccTLD community, the ccNSO Council chair asked the ICANN Board of Directors to amend Article 10 of the ICANN Bylaws to enable the inclusion of IDN ccTLDs in the ccNSO as foreseen in 2013. The changes cover two aspects: an updated definition of ccNSO membership, and enabling IDN ccTLDs to become members of the ccNSO.
