Notice on Voting IDN ccPDP

Dear all, The voting on the ccNSO Council Recommendation closed yesterday (Tuesday 11 June 2013) at 23.59 UTC. At the time the voting started 136 ccTLD managers were member of the ccNSO and eligible to vote. To employ the results of the voting at least 50% of the members should have lodged their vote. In total 65 votes were cast, therefore we are 3 votes short. Therefore the votes of this round will NOT be employed. The ccNSO membership shall now have the opportunity to vote in a second, final round of voting. According to the Annex C section 13 of the ICANN Bylaws, this second round of voting will be conducted at least thirty days after this notice. You will be informed on the timeline etc. for the next round over the next days. The secretariat observed that the contact details of some of the members were not up to date. Only the representative of the ccTLD manager will receive a ballot for electronic voting at the email address submitted to the secretariat for that purpose. During the voting process some members noted that the this email address was not correct anymore and we were able to update them. The secretariat would appreciate if you could check whether your contact details relating to the ccNSO are still up to date. Please note they are not the same as those in the IANA root zone database. Finally, and on behalf of the secretariat, I wholeheartedly want to thank all members who took the effort to vote. Kind regards, Bart

IDN PDP vote - we still do not have enough votes

All, I do appreciate that you are all busy but please allow me to implore you to vote in the IDN PDP vote which closes today. There are a few reasons why it is important to vote and why I am bugging you: a) a lot of people have put a lot of hard work and effort over a number of years into getting this PDP finalised, b) the IDN Fast track is held up as a model of how work in ICANN can happen quickly whilst allowing the naturally lengthy and cumbersome PDP to run its course. Failing to pass the policy set out in the full PDP may have the effect of undermining the legitimacy of using a 'fast track' process for some future issue and, c) the PDP is the way we make global policy. It is accepted that in the case of ccs there is a very narrow band of items upon which such policy can or should be made but there has never been any doubt that IDNs fits fairly and squarely within that narrow band. If we cannot legitimise this policy by a vote of the ccNSO we undermine the multi-stakeholder model and the policy development processes that each of us strives to support. Please vote! From: Byron Holland <byron.holland(a)cira.ca> Date: Tuesday, June 11, 2013 4:08 AM To: Gabriella Schittek <gabriella.schittek(a)icann.org> Subject: finwg update The finwg had a telecon on June 5th where we discussed the updated and revised material and model from Beijing. The conversation was rich and fulsome with a number of good refinements being raised. There is a follow up telecom scheduled for June 25th, which will include Xavier. Agenda will include refinements from June 5th input. A face-2-face meeting will be held in Durban where we hope to get general agreement on the overall principles, quantum, and timelines. We plan to share the work with the community at Durban, allowing for feedback and socializing with other communities until the next meeting in Buenos Aires, where we intend to seek the support of the council.

Voting on IDN ccPDP started

Dear ccNSO members, Today at 00:001 UTC the voting on the IDN ccPDP started. An electronic ballot was sent to what we have noted as our primary contact email address in the ccNSO database. If you have not received the ballot, please let me know as soon as possible! As we need at least 50% of the membership to vote, we would like to encourage everyone to participate in this very important voting process. The voting period will be open until 11 June 23:59 UTC.
