So far, we have received applications from one Councillor and one community member. Call for nominations to the ccNSO Council The 3-year term for five members of the ccNSO Council will end in March 2026: Africa: Molehe Wesi Asia Pacific: Ai-Chin Lu Europe: Chris Disspain Latin America/Caribbean: Alejandra Reynoso North America: Stephen Deerhake On Tuesday, 9 September 2025 (00:01 UTC), the ccNSO will open a call for nominations to fill those seats, in line with the ICANN Bylaws, the ccNSO Council Selection Guideline, and the timeline adopted by Council. Key details for nominations and seconding are included below. TIMELINE | The nomination and secondment procedure starts Tuesday, 9 September 2025 (00:01 UTC) and closes Tuesday, 30 September 2025 (23:59 UTC). WHO CAN NOMINATE OR SECOND? | The ICANN Bylaws, Article 10 – Section 10.4 (h)<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article10> state: “(h) Any ccNSO member may nominate an individual to serve as a ccNSO Council member representing the ccNSO member’s Geographic Region. Nominations must be seconded by another ccNSO member from a different Territory, from the same Geographic Region. Eberhard, I understand your email to mean you would like me to forward something to Council. If that is the case, please clarify what exactly you want conveyed. The Terms of Reference (adopted by Council at meeting 218 in June 2025) govern the call for volunteers. The call was launched at Council’s instruction and, in line with the ToR and the ccNSO Working Group Guideline, all appointments are made by Council. Council will decide on the appointments to the Study Group at its next meeting on 18 September. Call for volunteers: ccNSO Study Group on the IANA role in Disaster Recovery The ccNSO Council is seeking volunteers to serve on the ccNSO Study Group on the IANA role in Disaster Recovery. The Study Group is expected to begin work around ICANN84. Purpose of the Study Group The ccNSO Council has established a Study Group to provide the ccTLD community and the Council with a comprehensive overview of the issues related to IANA’s role, if any, in the disaster recovery of ccTLDs. The purpose of the Study Group is to assess these issues and, if appropriate, recommend whether new policies, interpretations, or practices should be considered as next steps. Membership of the Study Group is open to representatives of all ccTLD managers (whether or not they are ccNSO members). At least one member must be a ccNSO Councillor, and all appointments are made by the ccNSO Council. ccTLD regional organizations may nominate a liaison, and the Chair may invite other ICANN SOs/ACs, TLD-ops leadership, IANA staff, other ICANN staff, or external experts to participate. All members, liaisons, participants, and experts take part on equal footing in deliberations, unless the Chair decides otherwise.
