These procedures were not designed for a virtual meeting. It is proposed to follow the same procedure as last year (2021) For decision 1. Launch Roles and Responsibilities discussion For Information and Discussion 1. ccNSO & Universal Acceptance Deferred from previous call Recently the ccNSO was approached to appoint a liaison to the community Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG), see: The UASG requested the ccNSO Council to appoint a liaison: UASG leadership has reached out to ccNSO during ICANN71 for closer collaboration to support the work of ccNSO on UA. UASG leadership thanks ccNSO for a very positive and encouraging response. For better coordination on UA with ccNSO, UASG would like to request a UA liaison from ccNSO to UASG. UASG leadership will plan to meet regularly with the ccNSO’s nominee to learn on ccNSO’s plans for UA and discuss how UASG can help provide materials and other support. UASG leadership considers that a more regular communication through the liaison will help with the coordination and progress on UA. Going forward there are two issues that will need to be addressed: 1. What is the role of the ccNSO with respect to Universal Acceptance, if any? Does the relevant part of the ccTLD community expect the ccNSO to take on a role, and if so, which one. 2. Does the ccNSO Council want to appoint a liaison, if so should this be a Councillor or could this also be a ccTLD community member? Appointment member to WS2 CCC For decision: formal appointment member to the Work Stream 2 Community Coordination Group During its January meeting, Council requested the GRC to seek a volunteer to the WS2 CCC. Draft Resolution Following a call for volunteers among members of the ccNSO Guidelines Review Committee (GRC), the ccNSO Council approves membership to the Work Stream 2 Community Coordination Group for David McAuley (.cc). The secretariat is requested to take all necessary steps to include him as a member of the WS2 CCC and to inform relevant staff. Background The community’s implementation work on those Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability) Work Stream 2 (WS2) recommendations that are directed at the community will require implementation by and within individual community groups, as well as a collective focus to address a few specific items that require coordination and collaboration across the community. As individual community structures continue to consider and address the recommendations applicable to each group from the CCWG-Accountability, the WS2 Community Coordination Group is intended to serve as a forum to exchange best practices, lessons learned, as well as for sharing information and progress. The name of the representative and alternate should be sent to ICANN staff by no later than Friday, 11 February 2022. If your materials require design assistance, please note that the final materials will have to be complete, including the edit/approval process, by this deadline in order to be translated. REMINDER: ICANN Community Groups and ICANN Board Joint Sessions during ICANN73 ICANN Board Chair Maarten Botterman has proposed the following topics to discuss with ICANN community groups during ICANN73: What are your key priorities for ICANN work in 2022, how do these priorities help achieve ICANN’s common objectives as expressed in the FY 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, and how do you see the ICANN community, Board, and org moving forward together on a way to achieve these? If any, what suggestions would you have to enhance ICANN’s effectiveness and efficiency with regards to the process of implementation after adoption of a PDP or Review recommendations? Please submit your topic of interest and/or questions to board-ops-team(a)icann.org no later than Friday, 17 February 2022. REMINDER: ICANN Continues the Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program Interested ICANN community members must apply in advance of ICANN73, and those who meet the eligibility requirements will be selected to participate. The application process opens Monday, 24 January 2022. The application deadline is Friday, 18 February 2022 at 23:59 UTC. The goal of this program is to facilitate participation in ICANN Public Meetings during the pandemic. It offers community members who have limited Internet capacity financial assistance to increase their Internet bandwidth. Learn more. ICANN73 Prep Week Schedule Now Available Today, ICANN announced the ICANN73 Prep Week schedule. Prep Week consists of 12 sessions to prepare the ICANN community for the ICANN73 Virtual Community Forum taking place 7–10 March 2022. ICANN73 Prep Week will take place 22–24 February 2022. Sessions will be conducted in English and will feature remote simultaneous interpretation in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish. To attend any of the sessions, please register for ICANN73. Information Sharing NEW: ICANN Publishes FY22 Unaudited Financial Results ICANN and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) published their unaudited financial results through the second quarter of fiscal year 2022 (FY22). ICANN’s financial position remains as strong as it has been for the past several quarters. Funding through December 2021 is higher than the previous year’s actual funding and the current year’s budgeted funding, driven by the growth of domain name registrations. Expenses are lower than budgeted, predominantly due to limited travel caused by travel restrictions, ICANN72 being held virtually, and lower than planned headcount. REMINDER: Nominations for ICANN Fellowship Program Mentors Now Open ICANN Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees are invited to nominate volunteers to serve as Fellowship Program Mentors for ICANN75-ICANN77. Each group is welcome to nominate one individual for this role, for a total of up to seven mentors. Nominations should be submitted by Friday, 25 February 2022 to fellowshipconsultation(a)icann.org. Read more. REMINDER: Apply Now for the ICANN75 Fellowship Program Today, ICANN opened the Fellowship Program application round for the ICANN75 Annual General Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 17–22 September 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. If ICANN75 is held virtually, the Fellowship Program will also be held virtually. The deadline to apply is Thursday, 3 March 2022 at 23:59 UTC. Successful candidates will be announced on Tuesday, 17 May 2022 on the ICANN website. Read more. REMINDER: Calling for NextGen@ICANN Applications for ICANN74 The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is calling for applications for the NextGen@ICANN program. ICANN wants to hear from university students living and studying in Europe who are interested in the future of the Internet and in participating in the ICANN74 Policy Forum Meeting. ICANN74 is scheduled to be held in The Hague, Netherlands from 13 to 16 June 2022. If ICANN74 is held virtually, the NextGen@ICANN Program will also be held virtually.
