Aceptación Nominación representante de LACRALO ante ALAC

Estimados, En primer lugar quisiera agradecer a Carlton por haberme nominado como candidata para representar a LACRALO ante ALAC. También agradezco los apoyos recibidos en nuestra lista por Carlos, Natalia, Lance, Dev, Alberto y Juan Manuel, así como los diferentes apoyos enviados de manera privada. Como muchos de ustedes saben me encuentro participando en LACRALO y en ALAC desde hace varios años, y también estoy involucrada en otros organismos y organizaciones vinculados a la gobernanza de Internet, habiendo sido designada recientemente miembro del MAG (Grupo Asesor Multistakeholder) del Foro de Gobernanza de Internet (IGF) cubriendo uno de los lugares destinados a los miembros de la sociedad civil. Considero que en base a mis conocimientos y experiencias previos en el ecosistema de Internet, especialmente en la discusión de políticas que afectan a los usuarios de Internet de nuestra región, podría desempeñar un muy buen rol como representante de nuestro RALO frente al Comité Asesor At-Large. Asimismo contar con el apoyo de miembros de organizaciones no solo de América Latina si no también del Caribe que forman parte de LACRALO me ha ayudado a tomar mi decisión porque sé que vamos a poder trabajar en conjunto para que nuestro RALO y nuestros intereses, necesidades y preocupaciones tengan voz y voto en ALAC. Colegas, compañeras/os, me permito hacer la propuesta de un tema para el orden del día de la reunión del próximo lunes 17 de junio: procedimientos para las elecciones. Sin modificar los reglamentos y normas vigentes considero que debemos complementarlos con lo siguiente: 1. Declaraciones de interés y curriculum vitae de los candidatos/as. Deben incluir: qué propone, en qué se diferencia, y declaración de intereses que pudieran estar en conflicto. 2. Procedimientos y tiempos para debate entre y sobre los candidatos. 3. Formación de un comité electoral que pueda tomar decisiones requeridas para llevar en orden y a buen término las elecciones, resolver controversias, etc. Aprovechemos la experiencia de la elección más reciente (de Presidente y Secretaria) y no volvamos a entrar en un proceso con los problemas detectados. Tratemos de lograr acuerdos que puedan normar las elecciones para NomCom y ALAC. Dates: The courses are conducted online over a period of ten weeks, starting on 22 July, and include one week of classroom orientation, eight weeks of dynamic class content, discussion and activities, and one week for the final assignment. Structure: Reading materials and tools for online interaction are provided through Diplo’s award-winning online classrooms. Each week, participants read and discuss the provided lecture texts through hypertext entries; the tutor and other participants read and respond to these entries, creating interaction based on the lecture texts. During the week, participants complete additional online activities (e.g. further discussion via blogs or forums or quizzes). At the end of the week, participants and tutors meet for an online chat session. Courses are based on a collaborative approach to learning, involving a high level of interaction. The course materials, the e-learning platform, and the working language of the course is English. Who can benefit? We encourage the following to apply: · Officials in government ministries, departments, or institutions dealing with Information Society, Internet and ICT-related policy issues (e.g. telecommunications, education, foreign affairs, justice); · Researchers, academic, and postgraduate students in the IG field (e.g. in telecommunications, electrical engineering, law, economics, development studies); · Civil society activists in the IG and Information Society fields; · Journalists covering IG issues; and · Individuals in Internet business-related fields (e.g. ISPs, software developers). Requirements: The course is flexible, yet intensive. Applicants are required to have: · IG knowledge and/or experience of the multistakeholder approach in international affairs, together with basic knowledge of the Internet infrastructure; · Either completed the course Introduction to Internet Governance, or have basic knowledge of Internet governance, and privacy (for applicants for the Privacy course) or infrastructure (for applicants of the Infrastructure course); · Sufficient ability in the English language to undertake postgraduate level studies (including reading academic texts, discussing complex concepts with other course participants, and submitting written essay assignments); · Regular access to the Internet (dial-up connection is sufficient, although broadband is preferable); · A minimum of 7-8 hours commitment per week, and the readiness to participate in class online sessions (once a week at specified times). Fees and Scholarships: The enrolment fee for each course is €600. A limited number of partial scholarships (maximum 20%) will be offered to participants from developing and emerging countries.
